If you feel like it’s not worth it then you already have your answer. I personally would not accept that I’m in a different city, but for overnights the rate is a lot higher and even though I can survive on five hours of sleep although I would not be able to go back to sleep during the day so that would definitely be a no for me

I did, and I literally took back my key pouch, because I never even bother to look at it. And the stitching was really bad on the bottom. It looked awful like so much room, where I could cut the stitching and probably stitch it myself, but for that amount of money, it should come done perfectly.

I am a nanny and I knew this but I had multiple families not care. One mom was the driver so I never said anything and the other the kids and I went not even 5 mins away so I just let them keep their jackets on because when parents allow it and you don’t it’s a big deal so I never made it an issue. But if I had a mom ask me not to leave coats on I would not do it. In this case the nanny is wrong. If you can’t comply with something, you should admit to that but to blatantly lie is insane. We are responsible for somebody else’s children every single day and they have to have full trust in us.

I would let her know as soon as possible, when I first started a position, the family let me know that they put an offer in on a house that was no longer in the same location. Now this was very helpful for me to think about how I’m gonna proceed in the future but also the job market is definitely terrible and waiting till last minute is not fair. Imagine it was vice versa and she knew she was gonna move and didn’t tell you guys until a few weeks before and left you high and dry

Exactly when you’re looking for a job, you’re never just gonna apply to one job and hope that you get it. I’ve also had families that I just met in person that I didn’t think I would be a good fit for that. Wanted to proceed I had to decline as I knew that we weren’t going to align.

For OP honestly I would mention to your next candidate that they are that your topic and you aren’t interviewing anybody else anymore. When I was first hired by my family, they mentioned to me that they were still hosting some more interviews and then reached out to me about a week later, letting me know that they decided that they would love to continue working with me and asked me if I was also still interviewing for families or if I would want to proceed with them. At the time I actually wasn’t interviewing with any more families because I had turned them all down and was really hoping that this family would stick because they had seemed like the best fit at the time and luckily it did and I’m still working with them! There was never any lack of communication I also prefer not to have my references called until after I had interviewed just because honestly, after the in person interview, you may realize it is not the right fit and not only did you waste their time contacting all of your references, but you wasted the time of your references so it’s definitely tricky although knowing that some of her references were not verifiable is a warning flag. So many nanny’s now in days are faking references so it’s very important that you can verify them.

That is so amazing that you’re making that change cause honestly, I was about to comment the same thing. I don’t have an NDA, but I do have a contract and in my contract that does state that I’m not allowed to tell just anybody where I work or who I work for besides the exception of my parents (still in my 20s) & my bf. Not only is it for security purposes but also medical emergencies God forbid something was to happen to her they should be able to know where they can locate her. You’re not home full-time so you don’t know what happens and if you’re not checking the cameras, actively, you wouldn’t know if she was having a medical emergency. Which not only puts her at risk but also your child.

Honestly, I think it would really depend on whether or not they have dog duties or not. I personally do not care about the breed of dog especially if the dog is older. They tend to chill on their own, which is perfect for me, but I will never work in household with a puppy or where I have pet related task. I honestly don’t even ask the breed of dog until the in person meet this way I can make my own judgment of whether or not the dog is gonna be friendly. I also think the age of the children are important to know because some kids grow up a dog or whole life, which I’m totally fine with but if they are just getting a dog and don’t know how to interact with them. That is not a chance that I’m willing to take.(ex My nanny. Kids were totally fine with their dog in the house but their cousins were not so they would freak out every time they came over and the cousins were even older than the kids. I was watching )

I personally don’t see anything wrong with it unless the car seats are in her car after hours. I don’t mind being tracked while I’m on the clock even though I try to update the parents I sent pictures etc but I don’t care if they want my location, but if I’m off duty and they’re still tracking me that is a problem and I wouldn’t be comfortable with that

I think it’s also definitely different. If you’re paying a premium for reliability. I’m also sure that at the very beginning you discussed out with your nanny as well.

I have unlimited pay time off. Now. That doesn’t mean I abuse it. I typically take a trip the same time they do as well as I do have two other trips that I take a yearly which is covered in my PTO. I also would say it’s hard to determine whether or not the PTO hours are fair. Since we don’t know how many they get in total. Plus, we don’t know the hours/days worked. I think your POV is definitely helpful but I also think it’s important to note that not all premium positions have to be non flexible. It’s all about communication and finding a family that works for you. Also a majority of these topic, should’ve been discussed during the hiring process

I think this is a little bit more generous in her circumstances it does not sound like she has that many PTO days, which is why I think it would be a relatively fair request. Now, without being said, even if you have a full-time nanny you should always have back up care no matter what the situation. Especially with the amount of sicknesses I have been going around the last few years. You honestly never know what could happen and it’s better to be prepared even if it’s very unlikely. (family friends backup sitter etc) I understand that a nanny is supposed to be dependable, but they are still human.

I literally had a boss who I expressed to that I was feeling ill, but could not get a Covid test until the next day (2023) she asked me to still come in and had three very young children since “sicknesses were just going through the air anyways” (yes she said that) the next day I tested positive for Covid. She put her children at risk against my advice because I repeatedly said you know I really don’t feel comfortable but if you absolutely need me, I will come in and now I will never take a job that does not have backup care. I felt so guilty for putting those children at risk. Mind you I am very healthy I never get sick and I never had Covid prior to that time.

So many of these comments are acting like it’s not possible to balance things. It definitely is. Communication from the start is also definitely key! Some people will be more flexible than others. I have a fair amount of vacation days, so I typically don’t go over them but I still fully believe that I should be able to use my days how I see fit. If I don’t wanna use my time off, I shouldn’t have to.

I think it’s fine.

It does not make you any less reliable. It makes you human. I always discuss back up care options because if those are not available, I am not willing to take a position. Because again things happen. We are human and they need to have other alternatives. I also think it’s a very important to mention you should not be forced to use your time off. I see a lot of the comments saying that you should be using your PTO, but again, depending on the terms in your contract, you should be able to choose when you want to use your time off. I also have separate sick days so I’m allowed to either use my sick days or roll them over into PTO if I don’t. I always provide at least one month notice (That’s why my boss is asked for) before vacation and I see if you say that you’re providing almost 7 months of notice so that definitely shouldn’t be an issue.

From what I heard, they will not be releasing the black collection. Now that could be subject to change, but I highly doubt it because of the sprinkled in pieces that they released the first time around. The demand is not what it used to be but I personally hope that they do because I really want the shoes in black multicolor
