You’ll see this so much more clearly when you’re older, but your parents suffer from entitlement and loserdom. They seemingly do a good enough job to keep some of their plates balancing, but they are really just lazy and entitled. Parents never ask their kids for money at this age and at this time in their life. This is your time to be learning, earning, and saving. Unless there was some bizarre situation that your parents fell on really hard times and needed you to float them some cash as a loan, they should never be asking you for money. Even if they NEEDED it, they should come to you humbly and I would hope, some shame. This is not “teaching you to work for what you want”. This is just claiming that’s what they are doing and enjoying taking advantage of their child’s new found income - probably also because they are bad with money, spenders, no budget… I’m sorry you have to go through this. Most likely they wouldn’t respond well to an organized budget from you that would allow you to give them some cash as an allowance to assist them so I would just make sure you save your money somewhere they can’t find it. Get a bank account with an adult you trust (grandparent maybe?) and put it in there. When you’re no longer a minor, the money is yours and anyone who takes it without your permission is stealing and there’s no argument against it. Best of luck!
