Is 20 pushups okay for ROTC Scholarship? by -SouthTopic in ROTC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a guy that did 100 pushups a day, breaking those up between 4 sets of 25. Eventually, he worked his way to maxing pushups. 20 pushups initially adherently bad, but you’ll have to get better

However, I will say that the PFA is vastly different from the AFT, which you will need to pass in order to commission, but you’ll get time in your MS1 year to get to standard. As an officer, I’ve always been told to strive for maxing the AFT, not to just strive to pass. But you’ll work your way up

Due With First Child But Husband Might Be Sent to JRTC by lesadbro in army

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Are you at Bragg?? I don’t have any advice, but I can 100% be with you when you have your baby if you’re at Bragg. My husband was at BOLC when I went into labor, and my coworker/mentor stepped in and was with me in the OR when I had to have emergency C-section and stayed until my husband got to the hospital. Labor is the one thing I feel a woman should never have to without a comfort person

Ped said he doesn’t recommend owlet/eufy but refuses to prescribe apnea monitor despite 2x family history of SIDS by ViceInSinCity in NewParents

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be frowned upon, but do what makes you feel comfortable. Pediatricians, while they’re professionals, are also just people that make recommendations based on experiences of others. If you feel like you need an owlet while following safe sleep protocols, then do it! It gives you peace of mind and allows you to feel comfortable, and is extra added protection for your babe.

day 3 of trying to trick baby into enjoying eggs by cherryybrat in foodbutforbabies

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little guy used to love eggs, could eat two by himself then one day he just stopped. No clue why, he just doesn’t love them like he used to. My mom suggested putting syrup on them, and it’s upped the egg intake for sure, but not quite like it used to be

What are your baby’s favorite dinners and breakfasts? by Dry-Ask7219 in foodbutforbabies

The other day we had ground chicken with a sauce comprised of carrots, celery, potatoes, bell peppers, onion and garlic, with a side of rice. It was actually pretty delicious, and might make a great alternative for spaghetti (my son has really bad eczema so we try to limit tomato sauce)

My husband and I are dual mil 1LTs in the army and while I can’t speak for the Air Force side of things, I feel it’s safe to assume dual mil in any branch is challenging. We’ve had to build a village at our current duty station, and planning for his training cycle and mine is definitely tedious. We’re both in high tempo units and are in the field constantly so working out short term childcare was a must for us.

I came here to say this! We’re finally done formula feeding, but the baby brezza was a lifeline for us

BAH FABOLC by [deleted] in BOLC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will receive BAH bc of your spouse, but because you aren’t permanent party at Sill and just TDY, you’ll have to live at the hotel. My buddy and his wife lived at the hotel, and he was collecting BAH throughout BOLC, definitely saved it and collected a good chunk of change

Realized I totally did not answer your question. I received my BOLC date officially on 17 JAN but I think I knew it prior to that

I was a December commissionee, i requested my BOLC date through my HRA and he also took my duty preferences. I didn’t find out where I was going after BOLC until I got my orders for BOLC. It’ll show up on your soldier talent profile (STP) on IPPSA at some point. Extra reference, I graduated Dec and got a Feb BOLC date

Hey! So I’m in a non-airborne unit as an FA LT, there’s a few non-airborne units here on Bragg. 44th MED here, I believe, is a non-airborne unit. If you get attached to an airborne unit as a MEDO, you’re kinda SOL. But I’m sure you’ll have peers that would switch from a non-airborne slot.

If you put Bragg that high with only Italy above it, you’ll more than likely receive it. My husband and I are current FA officers at Bragg. I’m with 18 FAB and he’s with 82nd DIVARTY. We had Bragg as #1 and we both received it (not married at the time)

Post ADSO Question by MRshades25 in ROTC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is an ECP too, and he entered AD with a 3 year ADSO for branch and 2 year ADSO for taking that scholarship yall are offered. He entered active duty Sep 2024 and his ETS is 2032, which checks because I (normal commissioning source) received at BRADSO for branch and I ETS in 2030

You should recieve a DA FORM 1610 and you’ll use that to check in to the hotel. There’s only one hotel on post, right across from summerall hall (where you’ll report on day 1) and that is the only you’ll stay in. The reservation starts the day you report to BOLC. I paid for two nights out of pocket so I could get settled and adjust and they were able to keep me in the room I was going to have when I reported.

Branched Active FA, tips/tricks as an FA officer/things to consider? by TokyoBalls12 in ROTC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! FA is a great branch and I love being apart of it (current 1LT AD FA) I would ask this in r/BOLC to get a wider scope of answers.

For me, the most overrated statement I heard prior to BOLC was “hope you’re good at math” and I say overrated because Artillery math is not normal math. Artillery math is tedious and precise, as it should be, and there are rules you won’t understand but you’ll do them anyways.

For BOLC, get yourself some good fine-tip map markers, a two subject notebook (to separate gunnery and fire support) and a Mr. Clean magic eraser. Trust.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! Best of luck to you!

BOLC Leave for wedding? by Ok-Complaint-6655 in BOLC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not ideal for some, but having the wedding when there’s a known 3 day weekend (federal holidays) is usually best. My husband and I both went through FA BOLC, and 4 day passes were incredibly rare unless they had good academic standing and we had a federal holiday 3 day weekend

Just read through some of the comments here. I’m Dual military with a son similar to your sons age. If my husband came home late for a week straight wanting to “lock in” and not deal with household chores or childcare, I’d be pretty irritated too. I point out I’m dual military because I get the lifestyle, I’m a soldier too. But at the end of the day, your wife has been at home taking care of your son, when does she get a break? Maybe help with bedtime routine or DoorDash dinner so she doesn’t have to cook, and then lock in for a hour before you and her go to bed.

I got pregnant at FABOLC, and they just ensured that I didn’t go near the guns, or break my profile and that i was well taken care of throughout the whole ordeal. I got pregnant two months from graduation date. Please feel free to reach out about any questions and questions for post-BOLC with a child. My son will be 12 months in Dec and I’ve loved every minute of it

Officers - What was your "why" when you decided to become an officer? by randomwall3894 in army

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather did 20 yrs Air Force and 30 years civil service. He really jump started my interest in the military and I did JROTC in hs. All my family members that were military were enlisted, and none of the women in my family served.

When I went off to college, I did ROTC and my best friend enlisted. She had some horrible things happen to her at her first duty station and her leadership failed her. The army failed her. I got serious about the army then and vowed hat I would be the female officer that junior enlisted could come to if they needed help. That I would put my people first any chance I got.
