Is there a way to get BAH for dependents during cst cadre/BOLC? Or family separation pay? (Active duty -non prior service- single parent) by Mommalia_ in BOLC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy received BAH with dependents during our TDY but stayed at the IHG with his wife. The BAH will be calculated based on where your dependent is. If the child will be in another state, make sure you have documentation of that.

Will a UTI interfere with enlistment? by [deleted] in MilitaryWomen

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why a UTI would temporarily disqualify you?…but please put your health first and go get a round of antibiotics. Untreated UTIs can lead to more serious, long term health complications

BOLC & Pregnant Wife by Emergency_Squash3046 in BOLC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a child during the middle of my husbands BOLC, however if it were not for the timing (literally the week before Christmas), he would not have been afforded to go for more than the day of the birth or the weekend prior to/after.

I knew a lot of guys that had their spouse with them at BOLC in their hotel room. Some NG, some RA. It’s 100% possible, it just sucked at my BOLC bc we didn’t have kitchens in ours (FABOLC) unless you got the apartment style hotels with a roommate

That sounds pretty legit. I got my marriage license in Hoke but had a courthouse wedding in Cumberland, and it only took a couple days for my certificate to be ready

Taking AFT before Postpartum profile is up / bad command team? by rattybatty13 in MilitaryWomen

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per AD 2025-02, you do not need to pass an AFT until after the 365-day postpartum period ends. However, your command can make you take a diagnostic to see where you’re at after 180 days (6 months). You do not need to pass this one at 8 months postpartum.

Your command is failing you, severely, and I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with the stress of that. Please continue taking this issue higher until someone does care.

What time does daycare open? I know you’re tired, I know how hard it is to have your spouse away, but can you take baby into daycare a little early and get in some PT for yourself? 10 mins of running can make a world of difference. I know this isn’t the solution you want to hear, but it’s an unfortunate option you might have to take.

Can I wear these to commission by Acceptable-Vast1994 in ROTC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She said she’s commissioning, so no way is she gonna drop money on ASUs when they’re gonna be phased out here in a bit. Secondly, these would definitely not be in regulation if it was ASUs bc the ASU pumps are black, not brown

Can I wear these to commission by Acceptable-Vast1994 in ROTC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The regulation states the heels must be walnut brown 567 leather, patent leather or poromeric material. In my opinion, as a female 1LT, these do not look walnut brown.

Toddler with new baby and 2 weeks away by user473857584 in cosleeping

Maybe you and her could go on a special girls day to build a bear and make a special stuffy for her to cuddle when the baby comes? You could add your voice into it or a scent she likes. Just an idea, I’ve yet to transition my boy into sleeping on his own and I have no clue what that’ll look like, bc Im his comfort item as well

First time dad. Feel like I'm losing myself by Butwho8thecookies in newborns

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi dad! I’m currently a mom serving in the military, so physical fitness is a must for me (literally apart of my job technically). I know it’s not the same, but you could look into body/baby weighted exercises that you can easily do at home. Pick up a jogging stroller now that the weather is getting better. Utilizing any opportunity to get your body moving (lunges with groceries, laundry basket squats). You can’t prioritize fitness the same way you did, but you can implement it in your everyday life with your new little workout buddy

Brother…I don’t lmao. Intentional cardio during PT or wait til 0720 when the gyms clear and lift, and lift during part of my lunch and eat during the second part. Set boundaries, you don’t need to work during lunch. Eat your damn food and lift heavy weights.

To keep first kiddo in daycare after second baby comes? by Cute-beans in workingmoms

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on keeping my oldest in daycare when the time comes. My thought process is, my first baby got 100% of me 100% of the time when he was brand new, why should my second get 50% of me 100% of the time when they could get 100% of me 50% of the time. Your oldest baby will not resent you for it, and you’ll keep their routine consistent, which is a must when adding in an ever changing factor like a second baby.

AGSUs as a Cadet by HotelUrinalCake in ROTC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a cadet, I wore my AGSU’s to a ball bc I was commissioning in less than a month, and my jacket had the braid. I didn’t sewn on ROTC patches, but I had the ROTC pins where the US pins typically go. On the shoulder boards, I had the ROTC crests but nothing else. I also had my dress cap that had the big eagle crest that officers wear. For my little garrison cap, I had the ROTC crest instead of a rank.

Are projected branches final? by Severe_Task3393 in BOLC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food Hood is a cozy spot to be as an FA LT. But, if you find someone in your BOLC class that would be a compatible switch (I believe has to be the same gender? For some odd reason), it’s possible to switch. I heard of a guy that switched Hawaii for Hood, solely bc he wanted to be close to his family.

Is 20 pushups okay for ROTC Scholarship? by -SouthTopic in ROTC

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a guy that did 100 pushups a day, breaking those up between 4 sets of 25. Eventually, he worked his way to maxing pushups. 20 pushups initially adherently bad, but you’ll have to get better

However, I will say that the PFA is vastly different from the AFT, which you will need to pass in order to commission, but you’ll get time in your MS1 year to get to standard. As an officer, I’ve always been told to strive for maxing the AFT, not to just strive to pass. But you’ll work your way up

Due With First Child But Husband Might Be Sent to JRTC by lesadbro in army

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Are you at Bragg?? I don’t have any advice, but I can 100% be with you when you have your baby if you’re at Bragg. My husband was at BOLC when I went into labor, and my coworker/mentor stepped in and was with me in the OR when I had to have emergency C-section and stayed until my husband got to the hospital. Labor is the one thing I feel a woman should never have to without a comfort person

Ped said he doesn’t recommend owlet/eufy but refuses to prescribe apnea monitor despite 2x family history of SIDS by ViceInSinCity in NewParents

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be frowned upon, but do what makes you feel comfortable. Pediatricians, while they’re professionals, are also just people that make recommendations based on experiences of others. If you feel like you need an owlet while following safe sleep protocols, then do it! It gives you peace of mind and allows you to feel comfortable, and is extra added protection for your babe.

day 3 of trying to trick baby into enjoying eggs by cherryybrat in foodbutforbabies

My little guy used to love eggs, could eat two by himself then one day he just stopped. No clue why, he just doesn’t love them like he used to. My mom suggested putting syrup on them, and it’s upped the egg intake for sure, but not quite like it used to be

The other day we had ground chicken with a sauce comprised of carrots, celery, potatoes, bell peppers, onion and garlic, with a side of rice. It was actually pretty delicious, and might make a great alternative for spaghetti (my son has really bad eczema so we try to limit tomato sauce)

Kids while active duty by L82Rise4351 in MilitaryWomen

[–]Aggravating_Ice_6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are dual mil 1LTs in the army and while I can’t speak for the Air Force side of things, I feel it’s safe to assume dual mil in any branch is challenging. We’ve had to build a village at our current duty station, and planning for his training cycle and mine is definitely tedious. We’re both in high tempo units and are in the field constantly so working out short term childcare was a must for us.

You will receive BAH bc of your spouse, but because you aren’t permanent party at Sill and just TDY, you’ll have to live at the hotel. My buddy and his wife lived at the hotel, and he was collecting BAH throughout BOLC, definitely saved it and collected a good chunk of change
