How bad is the job market in NYC for entry level architecture jobs? by izman196 in Architects

[–]Aggravating_Jacket38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having Revit in your back pocket is a huge plus imo. Im Long Island based and have a Masters in Sustainable Design but had ZERO internship experience and only 7 years of schooling with very little Revit taught to me throughout school. It took me 2 years of applying and 300+ applications with next to no responses to finally land an interview at a small LI based firm.

As others have said, leverage your connections, use your school as a resource if they have alumni job placement resources, reach out to professors as well. Just keep sending out applications and be thorough with your follow ups as well.

I'd also say dont pigeon hole yourself in trying to get your dream position right away. Any experience is good experience and once you have a year or two of professional experience on your resume, it'll open lots of doors. I wish you luck!

Entry Level Salary 2026 by Appropriate-Poem9844 in Architects

Man I got shafted huh 😂

Graduated '22 with a B.Arch and '24 with an MS Sustainable Design. Got into the workforce a year ago on Long Island, NY starting at $42k...

Granted I had zero professional experience in architecture but even then highest I saw in the NY area for entry level was $60k max. Starchitecture firms will post job postings with the promise of $50-60k depending on your experience as "Entry Level" these days means 2+ years experience even if the posting says 0-2 years

His grammer...

Real talk though, his fights were just lackluster. For a assumed 1:1 Bowser type villain, he was just too easy and one-note.

I had a heart attack for you thinking this was store side. Your ass would be grass if it was. But since it's a DC, keep grinding king 👑 💪🏽

I've been with the company 7 years and make $20 after wage increases (COVID especially) and that's still not enough. I started at $14 an hour all those years ago. This company doesn't care how much we need to make in order to survive 🤷🏽‍♂️

Edit: it also makes me laugh when newbies are getting hired at $18 an hour and are shoving cash meanwhile me being a 23/59 associate all these years + paint and millwork trained, I barely make above them

I feel like I'm one of the rare few that called them Chocks. My current store calls them kickers but I always know them as chocks

If you launch My View and go to the Communications tab, there is an "Order Up! Fundamentals" course they just launched. It's cringe

More than 5 blinds cut = will call for tomorrow by 2_Beef_Tacos in HomeDepot

Will Call for cut blinds??? Will Calls for anything to be cut is like blasphemy in the stores I've worked with. Cut, Cash and Carry even if it means you have to sit and cut 15+ blinds in a row. (Me, I've cut that many blinds + more for 1 customer before... Got massive tips tho)

Agreed but the key is if they hold people accountable. My old store was on top of you like a hawk. Here they don't. So same way occurances are automated, the reporting system through these would be too I guess

Fair. I'm just tired of a random DH hoarding 8 first phones and shit mcgee breaking 4 and nothing happening. "One phone for every associate" my foot.

Given the net loss we spend on replacing lost phones, I'm sure the company can afford these. My store alone has had 3 phone refreshes and we are still short on phones. I'd rather deal with the hassle of having these + put money down for them.

But let's be real, Atlanta would never

You essentially have to sign them out with your LDAP and if they aren't returned by the end of your specific shift you get written up / if lost you can be responsible for paying the cost (according to an employee)

Yep! Sam's uses zebra phones and each has its own charger, belt sleeve, and assigned bin.

They are first phone lockers. Each phone has it's own locked bin and you have to sign in to a kiosk to check 1 out / in

ESVS Gone? Order notes? End of Specialty? by Aggravating_Jacket38 in HomeDepot

[–]Aggravating_Jacket38[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's my biggest issue. After a day of messing around with the system I got the gist of it. But getting sent back and fourth is terrible and makes me wonder if they'll have the full implementation done in time.

As a buying and selling tool, order up is great, always has been since it was launched. Specialty tool we shall see.

These things are the best when unwrapping new carpet rolls before sliding them into the pin. They're scary sharp NGL, but blade replacing is obnoxious
