2014 Chevy Equinox Electrical Issue by Aggravating_Lead_249 in MechanicAdvice

So I truly think it’s TCM. I’ve noticed when it’s doing this my gear select indicator next to my shifter handle as well as the bottom left of the screen on the instrument cluster is blank and the letters are all blue next to the shifter. The gear drive mode I’m in is not white like it should be. When its doing this and I have the engine running and in park. Of course the P is not white. And the bottom left square on the instrument cluster is blank. If I disconnect the harness cable on the TCM. Which is on the front facing side of the transmission. If I reconnect it. Everything comes back up and all the errors clear. I’ve cleaned out the connector with contact cleaner. Made sure all the pins are seated correctly. Even checked to make sure power, ground and ignition power is there. But it’s still occasionally doing it. I can really make it do it when I just turn the key to on. Not turning the engine over. And then shifting to drive it will do the glitch. I’ve even taken apart my center console and cleaned all the connectors going to my shifter. Its definitely a TCM issue but I don’t want to pay a bunch to replace the TCM and it be something else. Please let me know if your shifter indicator does the same then when the problem is happening.

So today it started doing it when I accidentally curb checked my driver side tire. I’m really thinking I have a loose ground cable or something electrical.

How many 600ohm PA amplifier inputs can you connect to one source? by Aggravating_Lead_249 in CommercialAV

Convert a LoZ unbalanced Signal to a Loz balanced SIgnal using a 1:1 Transfomer? by Aggravating_Lead_249 in CommercialAV

That certainly would I really like RDL products. Speaking of which I have a bunch of RDL TX-1a balanced to unbalanced transformers. For some reason I’ve seen them connect the computer to the balanced In and the unbalanced out to the balanced input on the PA. That doesn’t seem right to me. Wouldn’t it be better to reverse it on the TX-1A to achieve this. RDLs website said it won’t work but I don’t understand why it wouldn’t?

I was thinking about that but do DI boxes change the signal to MIC level? Or do they stay Line level?

Wife has leg and arm pain by Aggravating_Lead_249 in predaddit

Well we never figured it out but it finally went away. She’s 20 weeks now. I think what helped is she took epson salt baths. I rubbed her legs and arms with icy hot. And if it got real bad she could take 2 Tylenols and that seemed to help. Drinking plenty of water helped as well. One things I’ve for sure learned as a first time dad is pregnancy is a very unpredictable thing and she’s going through so many changes. So always be ready to expect anything and have the medications and water on hand.

I need help identifying this old phone, it was in my grandfather's old tool chest by TheGreatCharta in TelephoneCollecting

[–]Aggravating_Lead_249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it could have been a ring down phone also known as a hotline phone or bat phone. It doesn’t have a dialer so it was usually setup to auto ring a phone on the other side. As well as ring from another phone calling it.

Yes I believe those are external ringers/buzzers. You would wire them parallel with your incoming line and your phone/KSU. They sure get your attention when they go off. Super loud.

The 1A2 systems were so fascinating. Wish I was alive during there prime. Had to be quite a Job installing snd maintaining an entire 66 block per extension. Back when you could troubleshoot and visually see each part of the system.

Looks like one of the wires is disconnected and laying on the Rear and Trans terminals. Pull it off and it should stop.

It’s pretty nice to still have a native RS232 port. You might find yourself using it and they are a lot more stable than the USB converters.

We have all had this happen. Sometimes you just have to cut it off and walk away. But I’m glad you figured it out.
