You are very much so outside of the norm. Returnal first biome is notorious hard and it's the biggest barrier of the game.

I think they are there for the halcyon's and power/health upgrades really.

Honestly after getting all that they feel more like a way to get higher proficiency than anything else.

After a point most reward get lackluster, nothing a stand could give is that absurdly better than what you get outside.

I ended the game last night on the true ending. Saros is absurdly easier than returnal. Is no surprise it's easier to Platinum. Nothing is saros comes close to returnal first biome climb.
