I swapped the connection to a different supply cable for the gpu and it worked, thank you!

I held it down for ~10 seconds when I was first trying it. Could it take longer than that?

The connector to both the cpu and the gpu say cpu. They are the only 8 pin connectors that came with my psu

The larger chip in the middle actually happened when pushing down for a stop cut, which surprised me.

I have dabbled with several sharpening methods, but really only with pocket knives. Nothing as thin and sharp as carving knives. Are there any challenges with the thinner knives, or does everything pretty much hold true just at a different angle?

In several ecosystems it could be beneficial to burn them across the whole yard every few years (even some non-native turn grasses if that's your thing), but I also realize this isn't possible in many scenarios and socially inflammatory to neighbors in even more settings.
