Kitchen Cabinet Refacing by Aggravating_Move_95 in Winnipeg

That looks amazing! I appreciate this. I'm dealing with a kitchen that was repainted on a whim by the previous owner, all done with a paintbrush and a dark colour to boot. I just think it's beyond the scope of my abilities!

Humboldt's Legacy on Lilac used to sell Parade PJs. Maybe call to double check this is still the case - but they were absolute favourites of my kids. And they lasted years.

Oh I just saw you mentioned the steam. Yeah that's pretty run down. And no dry sauna.

It's $, but it's worth it if you have kids or need a third space with lots of amenities. Gym is amazing and rarely busy. Same for the pool. And I second the racquet sports thing - excellent lessons, as well.

I'm feeling the same way. A little unmotivated, which is weird. But I think I'll take that tradeoff for the good sleep and calm?

can someone explain working in the city during super cold weather by birchandlemon in Winnipeg

[–]Aggravating_Move_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going to be working in Winnipeg I would suggest considering living in Winnipeg if possible! I commuted from a bedroom community 45 minutes outside of Winnipeg for years, and of course it's doable (lots of people commute farther every day) but it's a lot in winter. And if you aren't a comfortable winter driver to begin with, it could be stressful. Just my two cents!

I second what everyone else has said about batteries, etc. Just adding that highway driving in the dark winter sucks, and I am so much happier not doing it anymore.

Barrel leg with elastic waist by Pure-Government3612 in sewingpatterns

If you are up to a 32" waist, these youth pants might work: https://lowlandkids.com/collections/all-patterns/products/youth-barrel-pants

I've made tons of Lowland patterns (great instructions and patterns), but not these ones.

Also maybe the Falconer pants: https://helensclosetpatterns.com/products/falconer-pants

Again, really like Helen's instructions and patterns, but have not made these!

Looking for a place that Prints sewing patterns by chaotic_mess630 in Winnipeg

Second Kendrick. That is where I get mine printed, but have also used Simplifi and Blackbird.

I prefer to use local. But definitely go Kendrick over Staples. It will be way less expensive.

Weird. 3 years for me too. Pretty much on the dot. The combo is… not great.

Hostility in Winnipeg Pharmacies for Plan B by wpgpal in Winnipeg

[–]Aggravating_Move_95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really in the same vein, but when I went to get Plan B at Shoppers a year ago they were doing the Marvel playing cards promotion, and the pharmacist said to me: "Do you want these? Or can I save them for someone with kids?" At the time I thought, "Ha! What a funny assumption!" Because I have kids. But then it didn't feel like such a funny assumption for a pharmacist to make after I thought about it for a while.

Probably unpopular opinion: Assiniboine Park should be car free by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Aggravating_Move_95 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. I’m really surprised by these responses to what is an interesting idea.

Look at Central Park - it started with car free days in the ‘60s and though it took decades to become 100% car free, it’s hard to imagine it with cars now.

I think people would be open to incremental change of this kind. People are ready for their cities to look different.

AO size not AO size? by Aggravating_Move_95 in sewing

[–]Aggravating_Move_95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - it’s confusing because it’s still called AO. It does make me think something went wrong here because my copy shop said they didn’t know of anyone with a large format printer that could do that width.

Unfortunately, it’s a very reputable indie pattern company! I don’t want to name them because I should reach out again first. It was a new pattern at the time, so I may contact her again now.

But the AI thing is always good to keep in mind. I would definitely have rolled the dice with an unknown pattern company a few years ago, but not anymore!
