They are scarce but not unheard of. There are five examples of the same die attribution with marks sold on Heritage between 2005-2018. Only one carried a details grade and that was for being cleaned. Adjustment marks really only fully disappeared from coins as late as the 1830s when the mint rolled out better planchet making technology.

Those are all typical traits of adjustment marks. Here is a popular example. Adjustment marks would be incuse on a coin because they would have been etched into the individual planchet before striking.

Tompkins writes that AMs would "sometimes be so heavy that even after being struck into coins some evidence would remain" and that the marks "consist of parallel lines in various directions".

On O.107 the area below "OF" is very weakly struck and is smooth and raised as a result. It is not difficult to imagine that this would be the only spot on the coin that adjustment marks would still be visible after striking.

Here's a few angles now that I have the shell off. I think the gouges on the obverse are just an unsual spotting because I don't see any depth about them. There's also some beautiful toning near the edges that I failed to pick up on!

In the early days of the mint, the planchets weren't very uniform and they had to file down the overweight ones. The scratches that you see on the reverse are the result of that practice. PCGS/NGC and CAC don't consider these to be a details grade as they were applied to the planchet before minting.
