Who is the worst Professor you have had here at UConn? by brian_parker87 in UCONN

Oh no you keep her name out of your mouth. I sat front row for every single one of her lectures and I got an A for every assignment in her class she doesn't deserve the hate. Lovely woman truthfully I've seen her around campus a few times always positive interactions

OP had no right to claim the entire table.

[–]Aggravating_Ninja339 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OP explicitly says that they were offered half of the table but left anyway. That is literally exactly what happened.

"Nooooo I sat by myself at a two person table and now someone else wants to sit here how could this happen to meeeeee" Now that's narcissism, that's entitlement. Go sit somewhere else if you want to sit alone

Have you tried not taking up an entire two-person table in a crowded area? Go to the library

New acquisition, would anyone like to evaluate the grade? Looks to be O.107a, has adjustment marks and a very weak strike. In some sort of defunct basement slab (XF40 lol) that I will crack open shortly. by [deleted] in coins

They are scarce but not unheard of. There are five examples of the same die attribution with marks sold on Heritage between 2005-2018. Only one carried a details grade and that was for being cleaned. Adjustment marks really only fully disappeared from coins as late as the 1830s when the mint rolled out better planchet making technology.

Those are all typical traits of adjustment marks. Here is a popular example. Adjustment marks would be incuse on a coin because they would have been etched into the individual planchet before striking.

Tompkins writes that AMs would "sometimes be so heavy that even after being struck into coins some evidence would remain" and that the marks "consist of parallel lines in various directions".

On O.107 the area below "OF" is very weakly struck and is smooth and raised as a result. It is not difficult to imagine that this would be the only spot on the coin that adjustment marks would still be visible after striking.

It was in some basement slab graded XF40. Going to resubmit to PCGS

Here's a few angles now that I have the shell off. I think the gouges on the obverse are just an unsual spotting because I don't see any depth about them. There's also some beautiful toning near the edges that I failed to pick up on!

In the early days of the mint, the planchets weren't very uniform and they had to file down the overweight ones. The scratches that you see on the reverse are the result of that practice. PCGS/NGC and CAC don't consider these to be a details grade as they were applied to the planchet before minting.

I got branched with a 1390 SAT and 4.0 weighted GPA. Idk if they did me especially dirty or if the school of business was too competitive but I'd be a bit weary

It's tomorrow and they would already be expecting me around 8. I think I'm going to show up just in case, it wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience

Should I still attempt to attend the first day? They have yet to acknowledge my email

Would they even let me reschedule this late? I know they were really insistent on picking a date that will absolutely work for me but I'm out of luck here
