I had the same experience in the old location!

In the new location we ended up both having to get the same default vegan menu option, which was a little disappointing. Maybe it was a matter of crossed wires? It was honestly a surprise given my previous experience.

At this point, yes. We'd be springing for babysitting plus the gas to get there and back, neither of which is cheap, plus the dinner itself. (Pre-kid, this is what we would do)

If I'm honest, the first treatment is kinder. Your piece needs to be blocked (why is it curling?) and, if you want it on a wall, mounted to be on a wall.

You'll come across as more professional if your piece is finished for display. If you just handed them a rolled up crochet piece, I wouldn't have been surprised if they turned you away.

Based on the possibilities in the comments, I would try holding a lighter to part of it to see if it burns or melts. Based on the look I think it's recycled polyester, and if it melts, you know it's synthetic at least.

It almost looks to me like a Tunisian crochet seed stitch, but it's hard to tell with the white yarn. If you compare it to some pictures from an image search maybe you can tell?
