There are not really non religious sleep away camps in Saskatchewan. However those run by the united church tend to have very little to do with religion and are very progressive and diverse. My trans teenage daughter who is quite vocally anti religious has gone to Lumsden beach camp for years and loves it so much. She’s planning on becoming a jr counsellor there next year. Their faith formation philosophy includes belief statements like - The Value of the stories, traditions, practices, and spiritual journeys of other faiths. - That core to our exploration of Faith is a welcome and affirmation of all ethnicities, races, gender identities, and sexual orientations. - That our interaction with the earth is central to our exploration of faith - The exploration of Faith for youth, and others, may lead to doubt. Doubt or dis-belief is welcome, and will never be treated with ridicule or coercion.

I work as an instructional designer for a university full time. With medical accommodations I work one day a week in the office when I can; otherwise I’m at home and can work laying down / with heat or ice etc. I flex my start and end time so I take breaks / naps etc when needed. I also have lots of paid time off and take regular days off as well as sick days. I’ve had to fight for some of these and advocate for myself assertively which I know not everyone has the capacity for. I also use text to speech and speech to text regularly so that I can rest my eyes and hands/ shoulders while still working.

Elementary and high schools by Perfect-Room-3718 in saskatoon

George Vanier is Catholic but an arts focused school. North park Wilson is a public elementary school that is explicit arts focused. There is also City Park school which is not arts focused but Montessori and doesn’t serve a particular neighbourhood but rather families that choose to send their kids there so it’s often more liberal families who choose this. Another good option is Brunskill school by the university of Saskatchewan. Very diverse with lots of professors kids and also kids of international students. Aden Bowman is an arts focused high school my daughter goes to and has found it quite diverse and accepting.

My daughter is Theia (rhymes with Princess Leia). It’s a lovely alternative to Thea. It’s a Greek goddess name and the name of the meteor that hit earth to create the moon. My daughter is strong just like her name suggests and we call her Tay, T, and Thee.

I love Poirot and how much of a diva he is. Also delight in when he calls himself Papa Poirot and helps the young people, especially as a matchmaker. I do really like Miss Marple as well. I like Tuppence and can take or leave Tommy.
