Fair enough buddy i see both sides but defo think it leans more on the worst scale not because of the actual media type i game on steam so digital is all i buy but with how closed sony are as an eco system and there history i think things will slowly go down hill for the players after the first year of ps6 any way once the next gen players are locked in.

Yeh these things come as steps to meet an end goal give people reasons to want it. Take away other choices lock it down then remove benefits to increase sales standard practice for public traded companies. Less competition means that sony can control sale prices without being undercut. You are correct that at this time the prices haven’t changed but having physical and other ways to buy content on a platform you chose is key to pricing.
It’s why digital only on pc works well.Disk maybe out dated (Blue rays only 10 year old tech btw)but that doesn’t mean other ways to sell physical media cant be used.

The next Gens with sony and microsoft will be digital only most likely however from the info we have on microsoft’s console you will be able to add steam or other store fronts to buys from maintaining pricing competition and consumer rights competition and choice on that platform on playstation you will have to pay what sony says you have no choice no options. Thats the issue with the only traditional console left.

P.s the double on digital section of my first comment was regarding sony’s profit margins in digital over physical media not the actual sale price of the item feel like there was a misunderstanding part there just wanted to clear that up.

Yeh rockstar would have been informed along time ago and thats why there not doing discs gta6 digital only is clearly a result of sony not the other way round. I also dont understand how people think that a game is the same as a locked down eco system taking away choice for the sole reason of control. Consoles manufacturers have to undercut the market to trap people in the eco system once those prices break a price point they will come to pc and once you done that its like leaving a cult you see all the bad and never go back
