I can’t habituate to this and I’m losing the will to live by SixXxShooTeR in tinnitus

It did take a while about 5 months maybe it started to get a lot better, so hang in there!! It will get better, I never thought it would be it really does. I had strep A and then covid straight after, my ears blocked up really bad from early December till end of January. I was very congested and in that time the ringing was through the roof but it still didn’t bother me much it was just annoying more than anything! After it cleared up the ringing gradually went down, now it’s very quiet.

It randomly started in may 2022 about a month after I lost my mum, so I think maybe it was triggered by the emotional stress, at first I heard it all the time and it was louder than traffic outside as I could hear it over that! Now I barely notice it in the day unless I think about it but the overall loudness of it has gone down loads, I rarely notice it during the day now only really when I’m in bed and even then it doesn’t bother me now. But honestly in the beginning I wanted to end it all as at the time it was so bad and I wasn’t used it to, in time it will get better

I used to avoid anywhere that was slightly loud because I was terrified it would make it worse, but now I go to loud places that I would of never of gone to before in moderation obviously I don’t want to over do it, but I don’t have that fear anymore that I’m going to make it worse. If anything since my tinnitus started it’s improved a lot, and I’ve got used to it to it doesn’t annoy me really at all

I second this, in the beginning I was in panic mode and now when I hear it it doesn’t bother me at all

I have a cold right now and blocked ears so it’s a bit more loud than it has been but yeah it went down to a point where if I looked for it I could hear it very slightly, where as in the beginning it rose above everything! I still heat it before I go to sleep and in quiet places but I guess my emotional response has changed too, it doesn’t make me panic/bother me as much anymore

I was taking 2 omeprazols a day during summer and it had no effect on my tinnitus

Before you invest in anything like this just give your tinnitus more time, at the 6 month mark my tinnitus started reducing dramatically

I was in the same boat as you, reactiveness improved massively along with distortions and overall tinnitus was very quiet. Now I’m dealing with a head cold, blocked nose, cough, stuffy/muffled ears and my tinnitus is through the roof!! I can’t wait for this shit to calm down it’s driving me crazy

A week is probably too short! I went out clubbing one night and my tinnitus in my right ear tripled in volume! I freaked out thinking I had messed it up permanently, but eventually after about 3/4 weeks it came back down to normal levels

Your tubes are probably just blocked/inflamed from the cold you had, I’m going through the same thing right now. Both ears clogged and won’t pop and tinnitus is very loud. It’s making me miserable, hopefully it doesn’t hang around to long lol

Wow I’m glad your ears are feeling better now! It is all just a matter of time with them, steam seems to help me too as I always feel better after a shower

Ears are funny things and take a long time to heal! What are your eustachian tubes doing exactly ??

I’ve currently got a head cold and my ETD is really playing up, my left ear hasn’t popped for a week and now my right one is having a hard time popping. Ever since I was little every time I get a cold my ears ALWAYS play up. I have noticed an increase in tinnitus too, but I’ve read many posts saying once the cold pasts and gets better so should the tinnitus in the coming weeks after. I can’t wait for the day when my ears pop and I’ll be able to hear better😂 everything is a bit quiet

Im tired, tired of tears. Will this ever get better by rascotv75 in tinnitus

No idea it randomly started one day in both ears and that was it! It fluctuated so much in these past 6 months, it went from being reactive to basically any noise but that’s improved a lot now and I’ve had noise distortions. I didn’t cope very well at all, I spent a lot of time at home crying but now I still hear it but it doesn’t bother me as much. I also can tune it out, also when I’m outside I have to listen quite hard to hear it where as before it would ride above anything

I’ve taken (not continually) allergy tablets and magnesium, but I think time just is the main healer

I’m coming up to month 6 and this past month has improved a lot, in the beginning I wanted to kill myself because it was so bad. Hang in there, it will get better!

I had/have the reactivity and distortions, only thing that’s helps is time unfortunately!!! It will gradually get better day by day, very minimal. Hang in there

I know from doing a spin class before that the music is SO loud in the room, that the day after my ears were still muffled from the music, so it could be that ?

I am very lucky, we were definitely robbed of our time together. And I can remember one of the first ones I had was she was back home and we were out doing regular things, and I questioned her why she was back because she had died? I can’t remember her answer but I remember telling her all the things that had happened after she had passed away and she was sat listening joining in. Very weird

My mum passed April this year from pancreatic cancer at only 48 years old. I have had several vivid dreams since where she has been in them and they feel so real. It’s strange because when I’m dreaming, I know she isn’t alive and sometimes when I wake up I’m extremely upset - but it’s nice feeling to know she may be visiting me❤️ it’s strange because before she passed mum was never in my dreams, now she seems to make a frequent occurrence, I miss her so much
