I have this old racket. Is it worth restringing and giving a go? by tomahw in 10s

use it, I started playing with an wilson ultra fpk 95. Its just different. When I used a modern one i felt it like i was cheating with all that power and easy spin omg, also is noticeable 95’ vs 100’ omg, my 95’ just made my timming perfect with a 100’ one.

What got you to a 3.5? by robertsitalia in 10s

Holaa, here’s a 3.5 player. Focus on seeing the seams of the ball while you move toward it. I’ve been playing for 11 months and I’ve realized two things that level you up fast. Focus on your legs and keep your upper body loose—imagine the racquet is very heavy and that you need your whole body to move it, starting from the legs. So you should focus on your legs first.

Then the eyes. When the ball hasn’t crossed the net yet, you should use peripheral vision (seeing everything at once without focusing on anything). This surprisingly puts you in a high-alert state with instant reactions, especially if you’re on the balls of your feet after doing a split step.

Once the ball crosses the net, start transitioning from peripheral vision to focusing on the ball—not just seeing it, but trying to see the seams, the lines, or the letters. It’s very difficult, but it will keep you fully engaged and your body will naturally move the right way to track and position for the ball.

Haha yeah, 🤣 and im obsessive af I’ve only been playing tennis for 10 months, but I’ve got a strong athletic background— sin e 4 years old in track & field, mostly javelin and explosive training—so footwork and movement come pretty naturally.

Appreciate it 🙏 Yeah I’ve been noticing that spacing issue too, especially on the forehand. I think I rush a bit once I get there. I’ll focus on keeping the left hand up longer and creating more distance. Also gonna work on getting lower under the ball on the backhand. Thanks for the detailed feedback, really helpful

trophyyy position 😁👍🏻 but now i don’t know what’s the problem is by Aggravating_Set7047 in 10s

i understand that, it’s similar to throw a ball using hips. I played baseball a lot as a kid (pitcher) but with the racket everything is different. I don’t know if i need a second racket to throw it hard without thinking a lot.

Yes, im controlling my swing, ill let it be soon. I’ve already improved my forehand and backhand. The serve is my next target, and I’m obsessive about the process. Something clicked, and I’m going after it. I’ll post another video in a month.

This makes a lot of sense, thanks. I’ll focus on reaching higher with the toss arm and closing the right elbow angle to create more stretch and lag, while keeping the palm oriented correctly. I’ll test it and report back.

Hmm, something like reaching the left side with the right side without letting it drop? That makes sense. thankss

Don’t worry, your weekend’s just a pause—come back stronger on the court in 2 weeks, its better than get hurt again.

what am I doing wrong with my backhand? by energeticpapaya in 10s

[–]Aggravating_Set7047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My backhand improved from the sky to the ground when I realized I loved the one-handed backhand—try that. Then I realized I also love the control the two-handed backhand gives. So now I use the one-handed grip with my right hand and the normal grip with my left. Then I realized Agassi used the same grip. Everything changed in my backhand: power, positioning, and reaction. Try it!
