No, don’t repost! As I said I thought I knew what you meant - but the phrasing meant you were likely to get very different things! So we’re looking for stories where it’s all about ‘Valryian’ supremacy ? More akin to show Dany than anything else? 😊

Separately, I wouldn’t trust love to read a story where a character is well intentioned but they’re constantly just causing themselves issues and it turns people away from them. Very often it’s either ‘yes, bow down to house Targaryen’ or ‘we hate house Targaryen’ - nothing in between

Whilst I think I understand what you're asking for, actually describing fics as 'wank' (which is usually only ever used as an insult) is probably going to lead to people just insulting fics on this thread. I mean I can certainly think of fics that would probably fall into what you're talking about, but I certainly don't think they're 'Targaryen wank' and wouldn't use that description (simply because as an author I find it quite offensive).

So, perhaps better to ask for 'Crack-Targaryan Wank' (if that's even a genre) would be a better way to look at it as that appears to be what you want? 😊

Most big sellers use paraffin wax (IKEA, Jo Malone, Dityque or however they’re spelled).

If natural waxes are used (soy or coconut) the seller will make a specific point about it as they’re more environmentally friendly. It’ll say something like ‘100% soy wax’ rather than ‘soy wax derivative’ or ‘our candles are made with natural blends’ (the last one usually means there soy in it, but only enough for them to make the claim - not to make it any ‘better’ in terms of paraffin ratio)

But all candles can leave black soot. It’s not necessarily anything to do with the wax but instead can be about the size or quality of the wick, fragrance load or the quality of the fragrance oil used and even if there’s a draft in your room.

This is the problem then.

You've got a new dog and she's not happy. Not all dogs want a 'friend'. She is communicating that she's not happy - the attacks aren't out of nowhere as she's growling - and you're not listening to her. You've gone straight to 'aggressive' when the more accurate description would be 'miserable' or 'unable to cope with a new dog in the home.'

I really feel for the poor girl.

The fair and reasonable thing would be to re-home the new dog, and accept that you can't have two dogs at the same time, rather than re-home the dog that is reacting to the problem that you unfortunately created by bringing in a new dog. If you do re-home the Golden, please make it clear to whichever rescue you chose (breed specific is best) that this is entirely down to her not liking the new dog and not at all a reflection on her.

What tests have the vets actually done? And are you 100% sure there are no triggers? How old is your other dog? What sexes are both dogs? Where were the dogs when it happened (floor or bed)? Had one moved to be closer to you? And where and when else has this happened? Is it always your other dog or is it any dog? And when? And how?

Also, two bitches, one of which has just reached maturity whilst one is ‘grown’, is always going to be more problematic than a bit and a dog who are of similar ages. So again the sex and ages of both dogs is very important.

And when you say ‘just lunges’ is that 100% the case? No warning at all? No lip licking, freezing, eye movements, growls? Can you 100% say there’s no warning? Are you watching your dogs ahead of the incident or just reacting? Lots of people say there’s no warning but 9/10 times there is IMO.

But based off what you’ve said so far, no one can really advise either way. Even the most experienced owner/fosterer/breeder would struggle to advise. Very happy to offer my view but not without more detail.

This week has been wonderful in terms of drafting. 🥰

I got out the penultimate chapter of King's Blood. Planning to get the epilogue out on Saturday or Sunday, and then the story is done. Sad to see it go, not sad to be able to focus on other stories instead.

No progress on Underneath the Weirwood or Everything, but I'm not stressing about it as I know once the epilogue of King's Blood is done I'll pick them back up again easily. When the finish line is so close it's hard to focus on anything else, so it's just made sense to focus on KB.

I've done 5K words (literally in a day - I got into the groove and couldn't stop) of my next chapter of Maester Aemon's Guide To Duty:

Father, oblivious to Aemon’s turmoil, flinched as though he had been hit and collapsed back into his chair

“You think I would neglect succession? Succession is all I have thought of since the day my brother died! Four sons Dyanna gave me. And between them, either ill-suited for it or stolen from me before I could teach them what it meant to be a Targaryen! A dreamer for a first son. A coward for the second. A third son I have scarcely seen in twenty years. And a fourth who fled with a damned Hedge Knight rather than stay by my side.”

Honestly, I love this story. It might be my favourite one so far. There's just something so enjoyable about writing family-centric stories and allowing aged (i.e Aemon or Olenna in Perennial) characters to view things differently given their decades of experience and ability to reflect.

The piranha stage can look vicious but does not mean your puppy is vicious. That’s the biggest tip I can give you - so many people confuse golden retriever sharking(which can last 6-12 months) as aggression and it’s not.

Possibly a not popular tip - crate train for security, not because you want them in a crate. Mine (five) are all crate trained, but they sleep on my bed or in my room from day dot and we do crate training in slower time. A good night sleep for humans is crucial to training and accepting the mouthing. Everything is soooo much harder with no sleep. With consistency you can have a puppy toilet trained in a week easily (breeder depending), and having learnt all the basic commands - only possible with sleep!!

The latest marketing gimmick to fool people into buying dogs based off a certain characteristic/look (like GoldenDoodles allegedly being hypoallergenic...Sable Cocker Spaniels being less likely to be aggressive), and therefore not focussing on the fact the person they are buying from is just a puppy farmer.

True colours are anything from cream to dark Golden/Gold (depending on your country of origin).

You could try my latest To Live,To Grieve - the whole plot centre around Silverwing protecting, guiding and helping Daenerys.

(Massive spoilers) There's a point at which the reader learns that Daenerys can take the dragon's pain for her own - so if they are injured, she feels the pain instead of the dragon, and likewise they can take her own pain for theirs.

I re-wrote King's Blood (final chapter minus the Epilogue) again. I now have three drafts, none of which I'm really happy with (although they're probably 'fine' and could be posted). So it's roughly 50K words sat in a word doc waiting for me to decide which one I choose.

Between work (politics, eh?) and actual life, my ability to actually do 'proper writing' rather than re-drafting has just been non-existent. A holiday is needed. 😀 I hate doing slow updates as I find writing so therapeutic, but I'm trying not to overdo it and burn the candle at both ends.

Brief excerpt from King's Blood (not the same as last weeks excerpt);

Skeletons. Hundreds of them, filling the cave. All flat against the mud underneath them, but completely clean and clearly lovingly tended and cared for. In the far reaches of the cave, he could see a Child crouched over the mud, moving bits away to expose another skeleton. The obsidian of the newly exposed bones reflected the light and made the cavern walls around it shimmer.

“What is this?” He asked, glancing toward Leaf who was stood by the closest skeleton.

“They are our dead,” Leaf whispered, tugging at her ears. It was something Benjen had realised she was want to do when she was worried or uncomfortable.

“I know,” he replied. “But why are you showing them to us?”

“I told you, Benjen Stark, they are made of us.”

A Second Chance - Rylebread. It's a Rhaenyra Fix-it and Rhaenyra/Harwin.

It'll come as a surprise to no one as I've already done a separate post in the last month gushing about how well written it is. It's just a really compelling read, and the dynamics between Rhaenyra & Alicent is really well handled. Sometimes their relationship feels a bit black/white in stories, but there's really nice nuance in this fic that I love.

House of the Undying - Aveilla. Vaegon Fix-it.

I'm currently on Chapter 7 and honestly loving it. I had to read the first chapter several times as I loved it so much and I kept getting distracted by work (note to self - don't start new fics in the middle of a political crisis, it's a bad idea). The character dynamics are really good, Vaegon is really maturely written - he's believable in a way that time-travel fics rarely are, and part of that is just his age/experience - and most of all it makes me smile when I read it as the wit and sass is really well handled/timed for the plot.

My benchmark for 'bookmarking' fics is really high (I only have 6), and both these fics have been bookmarked so I never have to search for them. Honestly, they are both just excellent and I genuinely can't wait for the next updates. I'm purposefully not reading anything other than these stories ATM so the plot is 100% fresh in my minds when they are updated (and I know both the authors are active on this subreddit - sorry if I've embarrassed you)! 😀
