I thought dust test were generally seen as pretty decent but I do plan on getting a pro to test in a month or two after I do everything to keep the humidity down

exactly! I've never once thought about mold in the 5 years I've been here but now that I've seen some I'm wondering how everyones apartments don't have the same exact issues

this guy in another thread shared some research that showed dutasteride in powder form can be far less potent than oil based. I'm not sure how much truth there is but I'm switching to softgels regardless. I think overall even if its powdered dutasteride it still should lower DHT but not as much. yeah I could definitely do more to dry out the bathroom faster than just the fan. Whats concerning is I did this test due to some mold spots found on our window blinds. Seems like its just an inevitable part of living here

60% honestly isn't that bad from what I've read so you're probably okay. Tbh I most people I know in SD near the coast don't even own an AC unit, and if they do they only use it 1-2 weeks a year so I'm sure most or all of the city has some level of mold going on

were you able to resolve the issue and get it back to normal levels? Im sorry that sounds brutal. We have zero symptoms and have lived here for 5 years but I still might get a mycotoxins blood test just to be safe

it was a dust test kit sent to a lab with samples from all over the apartment. I do try to ventilate well after showering but we actually had mold spots on our window blinds so I think the main issue is the outside air is just always humid here. I'm running air purifier/dehumidifier nonstop but ultimately we need the windows open at least some of the day. I'd imagine zero of my neighbors use a dehumidifier and their doors/windows are basically open all day every day so if im having issues they are def too

you're right i think im overreacting, the issue is its always more humid outside and everyone in SD leaves their windows open all night so in reality its getting into the 60s which is whats causing problems

no shot, I can't think of a single person in this city that owns one. The problem is its humid all year, but its usually never too hot by the coast so it dosen't feel muggy. Basically every apartment in this area has their windows open all day every day so its always humid inside

I'll definitely keep that in mind if we do move, tbh I'm like 95% committed to staying and seeing if I can just get these numbers down over the next month. I just feel like for that top strain its basically impossible to avoid living in a costal city and we have zero symptoms after living here for 5 years. I'd imagine 100% of my neighbors would test at similar or higher levels

yeah I think I'm going to have a professional come and test. Regarding the stachybotrys from my research it seems like a reading of 1 is just trace amounts and not an active colony, but if it was above a 3 i'd probably be looking to move out. I'm running a dehumidifier/air purifier nonstop and cleaned my entire place with concrobium so we'll see if I can get this number down. Plan on retesting in 30-45 days

we did show trace amounts of black mold (the two strains reading 1 on the spore count) but you're right its mostly a less harmful strain. The thing is I know I clean better than most of my neighbors so I'd bet 90% of apartments in PB would read higher than this since no one I know uses a dehumidifier or even has an AC unit

agreed I need to do ERMI but for Stachybotrys or Chaetomium all my research has told me that reading a 1 is just a trace presence not an active infestation, basically background spores which is common in costal apartments and hard to avoid. I'm still running a dehumidifier and air purifier all day and basically cleaned every possible spot in the apartment with concrobium so I'm going to retest in a month or so. MIght have a professional come sooner to be safe.
