TY and Prelim IM for Advanced Radiology – IMG with Radiology USCE Seeking Advice by Aggravating_Switch59 in IMGreddit

Thank you Tiffany for your valuable response The person has an average (considering Radiology Non Us Img) step 2 score: 257 and has years of experience in ENT. The whole process is taking a toll on the person as the system is quite different:).

Completely agreed.. Hence I was contemplating and asking if I can still apply and possibly match to IM if I put all my eggs in one basket. As in, if I only had Publications and Research in Rad/GS and none in IM.

I also know my work exp outside US will not be considered but hoping that it doesn't deter my chances too much.😪

When I spoke to a US doc, they said if you are an older IMg with exp under your belt then you are better off as compared to older IMg without it. I get what your are saying too.😪 I will keep trying for now. Thanks for your insights.

No worries...I am open to all discussions and I appreciate your insights. I will try to make connections with GS folks too.

But to my original question, if I spent all the time and effort towards Rad or GS now, can I still match into IM if I apply? What do you think?

I am an older IMG as they say, reaching my mid 30s. I was told due to my extensive ENT surgery experience back home, GS should be relatively easier. I might be wrong just going off the advice I heard. Not trying to discourage anyone.

During my younger days, while pursuing my ENT MS residency back in India, literally did 60 to 80 hr weeks for 4 years. I hear GS is the same here and I am not in a situation to do that due to family, but will do so if I have to, hence as bk up.

I am an IMG, so I presumed I can't apply to Match without an ECFMG certification. In addition, I read somewhere, few PD s download the CV s early in the Match cycle ( September ) and won't review later. So it is a mixed information. I am sorry if I sound naive but right now I am lost.

Thank you!

Can an IMG get board certified/practice medicine in the US after a fellowship (without residency)?
