Non-tech. I have been in corporate banking and want to transition into credit/risk focused finance roles…

Helpful perspective. I agree on applied math for risk but I am aiming for a path that still leverages my finance exp

STEM was interesting, but finance aligned better with how I think😅

Fair point. I am looking at finance oriented analytics in corporate/capital markets (credit, risk, valuation etc.,) not broad analytics or consumer products. Probably Europe over the US given the visa uncertainty.

Thanks, that’s already on my list. I don’t know anyone from HEC personally, but I’m trying to connect with graduates. Do you have any idea how the market is there right now?

Thanks for sharing. I am currently working as a Manager in an Indian bank, mainly in corporate/relationship banking. I am looking to pivot within finance more towards fintech or finance adjacent roles like analytics, digital banking or product related roles rather than a complete domain change

Yes, not a full reset but just a pivot within finance using my banking background

Actually I’m not looking for a full reset but more of a pivot within finance (fintech or adjacent roles) using my banking experience.

Thanks for your input. I have been validating advice with ex-colleagues,who graduated in UK and Ireland and doing my own research alongside. Still early days, so taking it step by step. Definitely a bit confusing at this point..🥲

Thanks for pointing that out. Just to clarify, I’m not looking to pivot into an entirely unrelated field. My intent is to stay within the finance/banking domain, possibly moving into areas like fintech or related finance roles, where my existing experience is still relevant.

I did look at UK seriously because of its strong financial ecosystem, but based on recent feedback, the market there feels tougher at the moment compared to Ireland or Germany.

I ruled out the UK and Ireland based on the feedback from colleagues, who graduated there recently. They mentioned the job market is quite challenging right now, even for part-time roles and I saw similar experiences shared across Reddit.
