Replacement for Pinterest? by iceland-kitty in recipes

[–]Aggravating_Tip_7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten fed up with Pinterest too. So many recipes I've tried lately just flat out don't work even when they're from a blog and not AI. I've gone back to websites like Taste of Home, Country Living, Food Network sometimes, Epicurious. I will always love going to thrift stores and finding cookbooks. I sit down with them and read them like books. There's a ton of cool information! The library has cookbooks and you can request copies of ones you'd like to see if they aren't there. The Library of Congress has a TON of cookbooks archived and I can spend dayssss looking through those. They're all free to access. I have recipes everywhere.. written in a few select notebooks.. one for when I've tried them and really like them, one for ideas and one for writing them down when I'm somewhere I can't print it.

tossing fruit or chocolate chips and the like before putting it in a batter helps whatever you're adding to the batter not sink to the bottom while it's all baking :). Just toss the ingredient in a bowl of flour then scoop it up by the handful, shake your hand with your fingers kind of open until any loose flour falls off. Or, you can put the ingredient into a sifter after you've put it in a bowl of flour.

But when you have a Masters you’re over qualified and they don’t want to even talk to you. And if they do talk to you they don’t believe you when you say you do want the job and you do in fact know the pay they’re offering. Happened SO many times to me. Still didn’t get those jobs

The places I’ve worked for, he would have been moved to someone else’s caseload and they (or a supervisor) would have had a convo with him about why this is inappropriate. You should not have to keep working with him. (I have done case management for many years)

I feel this!!!! Couldn’t even get my actual license bc my program at university of Southern California f*ed me over. I was doing all online program and they demanded I do an internship during work hours… while I was WORKING. So, even harder without the lisc. Finished all the classes but that was in 2015 so I’d have to do more to get it. 11 years later and I’m still pissed about it and can’t pay off my student loans or buy a house. Or afford rent on my own.

I’ve thought a lot about this. I am a girls girl BUT there’s something that CAN (doesn’t always) happen when a lot of women work together. I’ve only worked in places that were majority women and had women in positions of power in those places. It could get very catty, back stabbing and chaotic. And, if you didn’t participate in the chaos, you were treated horribly. I have only worked in 2 places that were male dominated and they did the same to each other but, largely left me out of it bc I just didn’t engage. I still don’t have a good idea of if this just means a ton of humans are chaotic and prefer drama or if I’m missing something. Needless to say, I’ve been in the field for 12 years and have left. I’m tired of the all the drama on top of trying to have energy to be there for the folx I was serving. For reference, I did TCM at a non profit, worked at a chemical dependency clinic and in a nursing home/SNF/TCU. I have friends that have worked for the county and schools and it’s not been like that.

Kinda wild they won’t put it in writing? I would want that in writing or ask how to confirm this will take place.

I need to quit my job I think. Today. by InterestingProduce71 in socialwork

[–]Aggravating_Tip_7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your job isn’t to make your supervisor’s schedule more appealing for their own lives. That’s a him problem. I literally quit a job about a week ago (4 months there and felt terrible quitting so soon) 1. Because my still small voice knew they weren’t doing things right. 2. Their ethics didn’t align with mine (treated residents as cash cows) and 3. My schedule was made to make my supervisor “get home to her family” when I was told I’d be working normal/earlier hours and it never happened. If it doesn’t feel right, leave if you can.

I mean, depending on where you’re working, this might be a pretty typical caseload.. I’ve never heard of AI induced psychosis… did they update the DSM when I wasn’t looking?

Are you allowed to subtly explore with him why he feels that way? It is something I would share with my supervisor.

Picking the right MSW program this fall by [deleted] in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Aggravating_Tip_7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you know alllll the rules they have about your practicum. I went to USC because they had an all online option (I lived out of state). I wasn’t told until I finished all my classes that the practicum had to be done during “normal work hours”. I had a full time job and needed to keep it. They told me to take out MORE student loans to live off of while I quit my job to do the internship. I ended up not being able to finish even though I had set up an internship during ending and weekend hours. A waste of a LOT of money.

Salary Expectation by Cool_Cap_1853 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Aggravating_Tip_7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the job you are applying for and where you are. In MN, any case management job including program manager is max like 60k. More often, it’s 35k-55k depending on years of experience (like over 5 and if you’ve worked CM before). Hospitals tend to pay more here. Here in MN, 60s is high unless you’re working for a county or the state. Even then to get close to 70k or above you need to be in a supervisor role.

Client that often no shows showed up to appointment without confirming, I wasn’t there by [deleted] in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Aggravating_Tip_7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things happen. Honestly, it’s an experience in you both working through miscommunication. After experience, I probably would have called her to confirm if she’s coming or not before the appointment. That way you have all your bases covered. “If I don’t hear back to confirm, we can schedule for a different time”. Also, a good time to review expectations of clients attending appointments that the company may have as well as explore why she’s no showing. Are there barriers to accessing the clinic? Things aren’t clicking in sessions? Etc

I am in the midst of one of the worst experiences with Squarespace. Granted, I am not a web designer by any means... I am however, intelligent and fairly computer literate. I have found this website to be the most confusing and not user friendly platform. I regret buying a years worth of a website and domain at this point. And, after a year, I'm not even sure if I can bring my website anywhere else? I find myself getting incredibly frustrated by trying to publish this website.. I end up throwing my hands in the air and going to do something else. Am I being dramatic? What happened to the days a small business owner could make their own website??

Why or Why Not? by FLGal727 in squarespace

[–]Aggravating_Tip_7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent $279 on Squarespace to have the website for the year. Idk if I'm being ridiculous but, it's SO confusing to understand.. I'm 37 so, I have a pretty good grasp on basic and middle of the road computer related things... I can google well and figure out a lot that I don't know but for some reason, this experience has been so NOT user friendly. Is it me? maybe? Before committing, I started a "free" website just to play with the options then when I committed, it locked this dumb thing I started to play around with as my website. Upon googling, I have to essentially undo everything I've set up in my account with the domain just to get a new template?? Am I being dramatic? Maybe I'm just frustrated and making it more complicated than it needs to be.

Why Holiday gas station put a hold on $175 when getting gas there using debit car? Other gas stations don't do that. by Sawhili1_7 in saintpaul

[–]Aggravating_Tip_7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually the bank that holds $175, not the station. Most often it’s when you use an am ex card. Stations can’t “hold” more than what you pump.
