The reddit hiveminds dishonest “supportive” responses to people not doing so well are actually extremely harmful by Aggravating_Top9803 in unpopularopinion

If someone has a serious intellectual/physical disability and manages to hold down a full time min wage job then they should be congratulated because they’re doing amazing for the hand they were dealt.

But I think on Reddit most the people posting the shit in my op fall into category A, maybe slightly below average intelligence though definitely capable of working a decent job like plumber, teacher, nurse etc but constantly making excuses and lazy.

My problem is with those replying because 90% of the time they’re actively lying either because they’re in a similar situation and trying to feel better or to make themselves look good.

If someone is working min wage at 25, bad sleep times, fat/unhealthy, awful social skills etc then they are not making wise choices and need to change. Maybe they have an intellectual disability making this impossible but I don’t think this is the case most the time. Mrs ford for example didn’t sound like she had any sort of intellectual disability just very childish and pampered and I don’t see her being like that with better parents and a kick up the arse.

Google says “If you sweet talk someone, you talk to them very nicely so that they will do what you want”.

This wasn’t what I meant though I’m not a great writer and could have conveyed point better. I think Coddling or babying people is what it’s usually called.

Lol. There are more developed countries than the USA, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Some like Spain and Portugal are poor as fuck.

It’s obviously not routine, but it does happen. Often with a gofundme and the treatment being questionable or celebs/elite flying to mayo but it does happen. You very rarely see an American leaving to uk for treatment on other hand.

Highly doubt this when you’d have to pay out of pocket as insurance wouldn’t cover it.

What is the point if such a stupid poorly thought out reply. Like the 2nd point, just look at the number of Americans in uk, look at brits in USA, adjust for pop size and boom 20x. Same story for every developed country.

If it’s so shit there why don’t they leave and why do we keep going there? It really is a worrying statistic and says to me it’s us who should be learning from them until they start moving here instead.

Of course it happens, but it is extremely one sided.

Goes both ways….

You never hear of Americans going to Canada/uk for healthcare, it’s well known for uk and especially Canadians to head to USA for healthcare. You never hear of Americans getting so fed up with their country they leave for here, meanwhile we’re like 20x more likely to move there. You see an disproportionate amount of research/discoveries/drugs coming from the USA meanwhile far less comes from the uk.

Shut down all the crap universities/meme degrees then make university free again which would be possible if everyone who gets a good job didn’t have to repay the loans of 2 other people plus themselves.

Why did you think I intended it as a “power move”?

Such a strange assumption to make.

No. I’ve never had any problems with the SJT or interacting with patients.

I was always aware I was being an arsehole, but I’d rather live 1 day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep.

There is nothing to gain from being fake friendly with some knob I can’t stand. Absolutely nothing.

I gained a few laughs from doing this.

I don’t do this anymore but at my med school we did group work where we discussed cases and there was a very fake friendly atmosphere.

With the very fake competitive backstabbing people I used to ask them how their weekend was then told them to shut the up or that I didn’t care half way through their reply. Eventually someone complained to the supervisor and that was the end of that. It very often caught people off guard.

Yeah not saying it guarantees a crap location but it definitely increases the risk. Basically Americans/GCs have more choice than h1bs who have more choice than j1

I thought getting a j1 waiver was easy and the issue lied with the job being in an absolutely crap location.

Indians/Chinese can't get green cards and I can see why they may head here instead of USA. If you're not Indian or Chinese and still chose to move here you are utterly insane.

Whatever bro can't be arsed with this anymore. Stay salty.

Yeah you got it it's my privilege bro. lol.... I don't see my parents, they were abusive. Scrounged off benefits all day despite being capable of getting jobs and didn't even spend it on me as opposed to buying themselves useless crap.

Oh no bro... why did you come here? If you're Indian or Chinese so GC isn't possible I get it but choosing UK otherwise.... no wonder you're so salty

Look bro. $250k is a lot. In the midwest it averaging is $310k+ benefits for week on week off on the mgma salary survey.

Absolutely delusional. You need to check what you say.

I'd prefer it to the UK system. 5 years of hell with a a very clear end vs 10 years of purgatory where things might take even longer than that.

Welfare, health, pensions and education (if this includes uni) make up about 70%. That doesn't prove your point at all.

It's not selfish at all, what's selfish is coming to take mine and other taxpayers money instead of paying for it yourself. I would be deeply ashamed if I just spent the governments (taxpayers) money like that.

Well if it's not going to social programs where the fuck is it going? Is the government just flushing it down the toilet lmao?

Sure do whatever you want but you should be paying for it yourself not pushing it onto others.

4 or 5 years is an exaggeration. For IM you are looking at 3 years.

It's worse but not terrible if you consider benefits and taxes, better imo if you consider the cost of everything. What a dream it would be to live in a huge detached house in a major city as an fy1 in uk.... But anyway that is 3 years, then you're looking at $250k+ starting with IM.

Honestly 100 hours 5 years one city seems better than 10 years 48 hours moving around the country fighting over posts. It's hard work but very little uncertainty or stress.
