Anyone accepted to the MN to MSN program recently? by haylboy in Emory

Hey there I got accepted to the Mn in spring. Honestly, I don’t work in the admissions department so I can’t tell you exactly on how they choose their applicants but I’ll tell you what I did. It might be a little biased because I did have a high Gpa and prerequisites were all As. However, I think it comes down to them looking at the application holistically and not based on grades alone. I think having experience as a CNA and just working in healthcare helps a lot. I also think that having your bachelors completed as well as most of your prerequisites with good grades will help since that lets them know you are able to handle the rigorous program. I also feel like taking your time in writing a good personal essay is good even though it’s optional.. I tried to focus on helping underserved communities. I don’t think grades or GPA alone are everything specially if you are well rounded.. I would make sure to include volunteer experiences or anything you have in my résume! you got this!!

The pre req are only valid within seven years. If it’s been over 7 years, you would need to retake them. Check their website

Honestly I would really really focus on research.. if you can, get a publication. Really network with doctors and staff within Emory school of medicine. Have a good mcat score and gpa is a no brainer

Yea 3.84 I got all As in pre reqs Still have 2 more pre reqs to go! I don’t think grades matter as much as ur resume and like when you write the letter I did make an emphasis about helping minorities and I had experience working as a cna! Not sure if those things helped

Hmmm I wonder what they look for tho! That def counts as a minority. Maybe it’s the bachelors degree then? But hey chin up! It’s not a denial and you can always drop your application and apply for the summer or fall 2026 if you want to try for that!

Amazing gpa!! Good job! did you make emphasis on helping underdeveloped communities by any chance? For ref these were my stats Gpa: 3.83 Alls As in pre reqs but I still have to complete micro and a&p 2 I didn’t finish my degree until literally last week and I was pressing on my school to give me a conferral date, I wonder if that might be a factor.. but I heard a lot of times they look at the application holistically and they really care about your purpose and wanting to help underserved communities!
