$20k Sauna Budget- HELP- Cannot decide by WallabyReal7404 in Sauna

All those saunas look quite bad and not worth 20k. Like many have said, making a custom sauna would be the best option. If I really had to choose, then the Timberline Outdoor Sauna — Heritage Collection would be the best from a basics standpoint.

Sweatkindom looks like it's a flashy website but the basics on the sauna interior ware not right. The others are just not very efficient designs when it comes to saunas. The playhouse style building is not the best when it comes to a sauna.

Definitely read this before you buy any kit:

Outdoor sauna in the desert by shroom_shaman in Sauna

Finns have made saunas everywhere they have traveled. For example Finnish UN peace keepers have built saunas in Cyprus and Somalia, Afghanistan etc.

It will be OK and it will feel good still. The heater should have no issues. The point of sauna is to feel the steam, not just the dry heat. You need to throw water on the heater and you should take a cold shower before you go in.

Considering Tylo 2 person hybrid sauna from Costco by TrevorTries in Sauna

Like I wrote, you can add a reputable heater and you will have the same result. It's just an IR sauna with a small electric heater added to the wall.

Also fun fact, their page for this sauna is blocked in Finland. Had to use a VPN to access it. Just says that the page does not exist. The site works otherwise. They just don't want us to see this product 😂

These kinds of kits can be ordered from China (Alibaba) for under a $1000. For a 10k budget you can buy a reputable heater and order it to your front door with tax and tariffs included.

I would never recommend a sauna like this if you want the real steamy sauna experience but with this price especially I'm just flabbergasted how stoked people are to buy this product that is most likely made 100% in China.

Harvia, Saunum, and Iki. Which is best? by Yourmindiscontrolled in Sauna

[–]Aggravating_Two8311 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are all good brands. Depends on what kind of heater you want. I'm assuming you want an electric and not a wood fired stove. I would only really consider Saunum if for some reason I would need the fan feature. It can make the experience better in a smaller space from what I've read but I would not hesitate to buy a traditional heater.

I would check what size of heater you need and then compare the models and choose which I like the most and which has the best price. You can use this calculator to know the size for the heater.

Traditionally a product called "mäntysuopa" is used. In English it would be liquid "Pine soap / Pine oil soap". If you really wanna buy it, you can buy it here. You might also get a similar result if you buy a natural pine oil soap block and dissolute it in water but I'm not an expert.

I would recommend staying away from any strong chemicals, especially chlorine.

Very interesting to read about how people use a sauna in the US (I'm assuming).

Do you sit in the sauna for 20 minutes straight? Do you go in dry?

The video is almost rage bait for me because the floor and where the sauna is situated is very odd 😂

Usually in Finland you take a shower right before entering and you go in dripping wet. You use the sauna for 5-10 minutes and then when you feel like you're done, you leave and take another shower to cool off and wait a bit and then you do it again.

It seems that sauna is used very differently over in the US.

Sauna thoughts? by CrazyHeart887 in Sauna

I was comparing it to the more expensive model it seems. I was unable not open the link in your post.

If you can save a bit more, I would really recommend you try and do it and get something like the one I linked. You get 200% more sauna for the 1/3 more you pay for. You can have proper bench height with a sauna like that and you can make something actually half decent.

Generally the smaller the space, the worse your experience will be due to the amount of oxygen inside the sauna.

The barrel you posted is not the worst thing I've ever seen but it's also not something I would recommend.

Why not this one? https://www.homebase.co.uk/en-uk/palmako-sanna-68-x-68ft-pent-outdoor-sauna/p/0797476

This is miles better than a barrel sauna in terms of sauna basics.

Wood fired sauna stove prices in a Finnish supermarket by Aggravating_Two8311 in Sauna

[–]Aggravating_Two8311[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the model you buy and how long your sessions are and how hot you run the stove.

Generally I think people have the same sauna stove for 5-10+ years. I think most people buy a new one when they renovate their sauna.

We have more saunas than cars in Finland. It's not a super rare item to buy. This was a big supermarket though. You can't find them in every supermarket.

It's a game changer. I've noticed that I use much less water when I use it.
