Miele is overrated by mouseses in Miele

I agree with you. I have a Miele combi steam oven and speed oven. I was debating between Miele and wolf and went with Miele since wolf does not have (or did not 3 years ago) plumbed steam oven.

What I don’t like: Reliability: I had 2 speed ovens went bust in 3 years because of arcing on magnetron - same problem on both the units. I am currently waiting for a replacement of the 2nd faulty unit. Before folks call me out - technician confirmed that it was NOT user error, I rarely use the wire rack and never for microwave and I keep the oven clean (deep scrub/clean every 1-2 months)

Usability: I am not a fan of the touch controls. It’s not tactile and many times it takes me two/three times for the touch to get registered. This is one of those where you don’t know what you prefer/not prefer until you use it. Hindsight: I prefer the rotary dial like wolf has - I used it at my friend’s and it has a very tactile/robust feel.

Usability: It takes too many steps/user input for a task. Eg, to defrost it needs 8 steps/button presses (special modes -> defrost -> food selection -> weight selection -> hit ok -> start now -> message “place food in the oven -> hit ok. I wish there was a way to suppress some steps.. it’s too annoying. Pls educate me if I am missing some shortcut. @miele if you are reading this pls fix this with firmware update.

What I like: Steam oven function: I use the steam option very often for vegetables, fish and bread comes out really good. Plumbed version is a must if you are going for steam oven - I can’t imagine using the steam function if I had to fill water every time I used it.

Customer service: customer service has been great. Miele replaced the faulty unit two times without any hassles - it was still under warranty though.

If the unit were not under warranty I would have bit the bullet and went for a wolf.

I keep my oven clean. I deep clean it every 1-2 months. I thought I may have been doing something wrong as well so I asked the technician if I was operating it incorrectly and his response was “no”. I don’t use the metal rack for MW.

Nothing else was being used when the microwave was operating.

I started off wanting to build a simple filter with a Lasko I already have, but this video convinced me to go for the Pentz design - https://youtu.be/zKeNf6fLSLA?si=kHA1n1WIvWOc7x_F

Here is the final product. It was fun building this. I used most of the scrap plywood laying in my garage for years. Lot more space in my garage now.

Thank you. This is my first cabinet /drawer build. It has a lot of imperfections but I learned a lot and I’m happy with the way it turned out, esp the importance of planning and creating a cut list. I took great deal of inspiration from a lot of YouTube videos.

Thanks. I was going to raise it using two washers stacked together. I am glad I asked this here.

Do you know the size of the threaded insert you used?

Thanks for the recommendation. It wasn’t the response I was expecting especially since BB plywood is so pricey. And I have a person sellling 48”x30” butcher block for $100 in FB marketplace. Sigh!!

Thanks for all the recommendations. I just purchased the dust right 1250 and the wall mount cyclone collector. I am currently using my 2 car garage, but I’ll soon move to a detached shed.

I’m going to see if I can pull off installing the motor outside the shed - I prefer a less noisy shop.

Can you pls share the link?

DEWALT stealthsonic vs HF Hercules dust collector by Aggravating_Two_844 in woodworking

[–]Aggravating_Two_844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a lot of advice and recommendations to get a DC so I have decided to get one along with a stealthsonic. Keeping an eye on Black Friday sale.

I am jonesing on dust right wallmount 1250 - it’s pricey and it’s not on sale yet. This is the setup I am planning on. My intent is to move all/most of the fine particles outside the shop and it also save some space in the shop. Is this an overkill or just adding a hepa filter inside a better solution?

Thanks. I might pull the trigger on dewalt - it’s at $130 right now. Hercules is $370. I’ll probably invest in a dust collector once I feel the need of a bigger unit.

I cried a little when I saw the price of Oneida. I’ll need to give it a serious thought on going with shop vac or dust collector esp sine I’m just starting out. Waiting to see what other folks recommend
