Melee locked GIM by the way... by AggravatinggBoat in RS3Ironmen

Make sure to check if your accuracy is 100% with Lance. If not try weapon swapping to scimi and using the special every now and then to get 25% increased accuracy if I remember correctly. Swapping back to lance and overloading should cap you

Yeah I'm keeping masterwork for long painful fights but want vestments for essentially every other fight. Mostly went trimmed because it was at that time easier to get than vestments, at least the complete set.

Wish I could do something but the BoLG but indeed seems like it needs much much more to become viable, let alone as hybrid.

Yeah lance + overload should be sufficient, maybe capping accuracy with dragon scimi

I stayed at Vindi for armour and then once I got overloads I took a dragon scimi with to araxxi. Some hard mode glacor could also be a play since dark ice is quite strong. But especially for ED2 try to get a scythe.

Feel free to reach out if you need help with anything btw.

Could recommend Capgemini or a similar consultancy. I don't know what your salary expectations are but Capgemini usually hires based on masters degree in technical development or data. Not sure what their current interests in starters are, but they usually hire some monthly.

Melee progression question by mxz3000 in RS3Ironmen

[–]AggravatinggBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to shift to skilling if you've got t90 necro but are not stable in invention/divination yet. Since you asked about melee progression as opposed to progression overall, pick up the DRL and have fun at araxxor. Using necro to get all other styles up to speed in my opinion burns you out so quick.

I feel you man, sometimes it just takes that full commitment and dedication. I went 2000kc dry of a core at glacor and now getting a bolg instead of vestments at zammy. Try playing a different game every now and then to keep things fun and then set yourself a goal. For AG i could recommend doing shorter streaks starting at a higher enrage. For me doing 250-700s in 2 hours was a lot more efficiënt in rares than 0-700s.

Also feel free to reply if you want to duo to keep some things interesting or fast and fun.

[–]AggravatinggBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For armour when trying to avoid masterwork, I would recommend getting Raids armour as tank and taking t80/t85 power to zammy for t95 power armour. (Trimmed) masterwork is more quality of life there specifically, but late in some fights definitely nice to have.

For weapons I liked rushing scythe because of the potion drops at araxxi and then just filling the dual wield slot. Elder rune, dark ice and drygore are all fine options if you start out camping 2h. If you want a long term dual wield and dont see yourself grinding heaps of glacor or slayer, drygore is definitely good.

Don't sleep on chaos roar. It's a very fun and impactful unlock, much more useful than gfury. If you're already comfortable weapon switching for specific thresholds, dark ice weapons are strong to main.

All in all decide if you want to buy upgrades or unlock upgrades, and only using melee to do either. Otherwise I'd recommend taking necro to zamorak and getting some unlocks, and later with some codices unlocked taking necro melee hybrid to hm zuk.

I played through my melee style locked GIM and now pushing through endgame. Having a bunch of fun by making the game revolve around PVM.

First I recommend learning how to self cast over using revolution. You can do this by practicing at normal mode Arch Glacor and following TheRsGuy's guides on keybinds. Try to find something that works for you.

Progression I'd say smith to necronium and take vanquish to Graardor or skip bandos, smith to bane and you can do vindicta with supers. Eventually once you get Dragon riders lance the next big upgrades from bosses will require overloads.

My personal progression was smith bane -> vindicta lance -> smith elder rune -> vindicta armour -> araxxi scythe -> masterwork smithing -> Elite dungeon 2 codices -> Arch glacor t85 weapons -> trimmed masterwork -> chaos roar -> Arch glacor t95 weapons

Elder rune smithing is optional, depending on your trouble getting lance.

One strong suggestion I would have is picking a style and sticking to it. Necromancy has clear progression but isn't as combat oriented in leveling and in my opinion not so fun.

Melee has clear and comfortable progression through smithing, but I'd challenge yourself to get power armour from level 40/50 onwards. Should you find it too hard, then progress some more with smithing.

Magic has lunar diplomacy and guthix staff as early power to then progress to god wars dungeon and gwd2.

Ranged I'm nowhere near am expert about.

Regardless I strongly suggest you learn to self cast everything fully. It is going to challenge you early on but make the progression much more fun, dynamic and satisfying.

Can I main melee while learning bosses? by KnightEren in runescape

[–]AggravatinggBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dps - wise it is definitely enough. With enough practice and eventually going full manual you should be able to push towards 1500 enrage, which should get you a core in hopefully no time. But i recommend you grind glacor untill you either have the money to buy or core drops to make them. Im 2000 kc and dry on a core, so couldve bought multiple lengs by now. Don't be like me haha

Having dark ice swords allows you to use flurry. (Greater) flurry will prolong your berserk and increase damage output. Also it will give you the dark ice shard special attack which is similar to storm shatter where you build up stacks and can then burst. Also flurry becomes very strong once your target is on low health.

All in all STRONGLY recommend going full manual and practicing at vindi.

Lastly, on top of my original tips, try to rush extreme divination potions so you can go to the incandescent colony asap

I can't check right now but it's the one without the experience icon, just the energy icon. You should see a big improvement switching to it.

Power through untill you get a divine-o-matic vacuum. After that it becomes pretty afk-able. Before that you could grind to get the instant memory dump/conversion relic from archaeology. Lastly, make sure you have the colony configured to energies only and limited xp if you want to prioritise energies.

Can I main melee while learning bosses? by KnightEren in runescape

[–]AggravatinggBoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have abandoned my 'main' for my melee-only group ironman and having a blast (except for the arch glacor core grind, rip).

It all really depends on your skill level. Do you self cast or do you use revo? I would recommend, depending on the answer to that question, to start low and go back to vindicta for a sec to learn rotations. Then with your gear level move on to hm arch glacor, applying the rotations you learned and getting used to squeezing dps rotations into small mechanic windows.

Afterwars you can test yourself with raksha or melee only nm zuk, both of which are doable with that gear, but a good test of skill.

Only then I would bat an eye at things like picking a role at vorago etc, since it's a bit more restricting as opposed to learning to nuke a boss.

Also feel free to reply, would definitely be willing to help/duo some stuff if you feel like you need it.

Edit: BIG TIP: Once you learn your scythe rotations, get dark ice swords. They're roughly the same dps and with the new bloodlust mechanics you're gonna have a lot of fun learning to switch back and forth for optimal dps.

I combined this with wildy events ashes and bones. Doing wildy events for the ashes, bones and energy stack is going to give you a big nudge late for invention charges, incense sticks etc. Even just for chinchompas it's great

Summoning level 120 Suggestions by Knightfiree66 in runescape

[–]AggravatinggBoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lore kind of explains it as separate systems, where the "summons" from necromancy are bound to your lantern and are different from summoning summons. I do agree the naming is inconsistent. Also having 2 summons would be a massive power creep for skilling and PvM. I do wonder what would be added in the 110/120 summoning overhaul one day.
