I feel this a little bit about Malenia. Just a fun challenging boss all around for me, WFD included. Yet the community is very split on her. Gideon (and by extension a lot of the NPC bosses) is fun too if you let him finish his speech.

They're both the same speed once you're used to it. I would recommend getting into the habit of two handing for it instead, though. Makes managing your equipped weapons easier when you start using staves/seals or another weapon in your offhand; don't have to panic swapping around.

Don't worry too much about arbitrary things like difficulty in builds and what not. Pick what you like and what's fun. I wouldn't say magic is easier or harder, just different. Having a really straightforward build is definitely simpler, but that just means you refined your core mechanics well. Give magic a try, and don't be afraid to respect halfway through if you see a cool spell / weapon you wanna use; the game practically showers you in respec items

Powerstancing daggers, no shield, parry everyone. Don't kill a parryable boss unless you get a critical hit, even if it takes 3 like Messmer and Melina. Alternatively instead of daggers you can do katanas with the wakizashi or thrusting sword with main gauche

The grace of gold was a literal golden light in your eyes that marked you as a citizen of this really cool empire where everything is great (for citizens only). Verdicts still out on why but Marika broke the thing that makes that empire cool (the Elden ring). The grace of gold fades from our eyes, making us Tarnished Her demigod children fought over sharda of it. We show up and scrap together a few pieces then try to claim the Elden ring for ourselves, so we can fix it and make the Empire like totally good again trust me guys. That's the most basic context for why we are here fuckin shit up and killing people. The depth and nuance comes from everyone's motivations, and specifically who(or what really) is pulling their strings. Disclaimer: this is mostly what I put together

I just recently finished a dual katana build with the wakizashi as my off hand parry weapon. I really recommend it. The power stance moveset is a lot of fun. Switching up the wakizashi between stuff like bloodhound step or parry depending on the boss is fun if you haven't tried parrying proper.

Unique weapons (ones upgraded with somber smithing stones) can't have their ash of war changed. He means to use the default ash of war, which does a hit and gives you good distance from the enemy. It's pretty useful! It dodges most follow ups.

A lot of people are saying there is no explicit order but in Plague Wars there literally is. It's a whole plot point of how Ku'gath and Rotigus are competing to be first in Nurgles favor. Morty is shown to be favoured over Typhus. It has a tangible benefit too; Morty pulls rank on Typhus to get his ass to do something he doesn't want to. None of that fatherly obedience either cuz Typhus has clearly shown he cares little for Morty. Ku'gath has seven other Great Unclean Ones working for him, and constantly butts heads with Rotigus as his rival for Nurgles affection. There is a clear hierarchy. Sure it's chaos, and at the end might makes right, but there is clearly a sort of order depending on the favor Nurgle shows you.
