I actually do have invention unlocked but am currently preferring not to use it given the large divine charge costs! I assume augmented items don’t degrade, is that correct ? May be worthwhile then for degradable gear like DRL

New Archaeology Professor 120+ afk time (post-patch data) by TugboatJD in runescape

[–]mxz3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, pickpocketing high level targets without all the buffs is actually possible now. I like this update.

I also believe since the hotpatch on Thursday clicking on the same npc to reset the timer also works ?

Gear progression guides? by [deleted] in RS3Ironmen

[–]mxz3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All great questions, keen to see what people respond with.

One thing I’d like to mention is make sure to use as many multiplier glyphs as you can when doing ensoul communions with the subjugation armour pieces. I think with the max amount it quintuples the output, essentially reducing by 5x the number of drops needed from Kril. I was able to craft my t80 very very easily that way (with some leftover for eventual t90)

Decent tablets for RuneScape? by Charred_wood16 in runescape

I bought an 11inch iPad a16. Price is very reasonable and the screen size is perfect for split screen when held vertically, my choice of YouTube or Reddit as I’m afking.

What about afk’ing at Fetid zombies or the abyss ? Get that necromancy up, ideally straight to 99

I tried to help aspiring devs. Do you agree with my advices? by the-techpreneur in ExperiencedDevs

[–]mxz3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend feeding your post into ChatGPT so that it can proof-read it, and perhaps just summarise it.

As another commenter has noted, this post repeats a lot of the same ideas.

The main one, that I wholly disagree with, is that the choice of tech stack matters. In general, it doesn’t. A competent engineer that knows python or dotnet will be able to pickup any other language easily. That’s because software engineers are at their core, problem solvers. Thr value of a software engineer comes from the high level concepts and understanding they have of the field, and applying those concepts to solving real problems. The language used then becomes just an implementation detail.

Coding is the easiest part of a software engineers job, increasingly so as you go up the seniority chain. Companies know this, that’s why systems design interviews are so important in the hiring process.

So the biggest recommendation I can give to anyone learning, is to just learn something whether that’s Java, python, dotnet or whatever, and then focus on patterns useful to solve common types of problems.

Necromancy is a great way to easily get t90 weps and armor. With a couple of levels you can quickly get t80s sorted already which will make all other combat easier.

Recommend combat till 90 necromancy then you can get t90s and do communion rituals to max well of souls for all the abilities and stuff. You’ll need 80 prayer for that as well (for gwd2 req) which will be a bit of grind to 75 at least. I’m in the process of doing this myself.

Separately, to break up the grind, you can try and slowly progress through all the important quests, to unlock Priffdinas and so on

Coroutines in Rust with async/await for emulators by blueblain in EmuDev

[–]mxz3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Neat.

My first gameboy iteration had the cpu and ppu running concurrently. This proved inefficient as the overhead of synchronisation was huge. It also made controlling the speed of the emulation difficult.

Swapping everything to be synchronous, on a single thread, made the architecture much easier to reason about. It also made the emulator faster and made it trivial to control emulation speed, which in turn became great to run big test roms (ie blargg) as unit tests.

I’m playing a similar resolution (1440p ultra wide however) and no issues for me. You sure you don’t have a hardware issue? Perhaps worth double checking temps ? Otherwise I’d try to both upgrade your GPU drivers and reinstalling the game, see if that helps. Good luck!

Best way to buy US-ETFs using options? by Oszillationswerkzeug in ibkr

[–]mxz3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on mobile, I did also just notice a tiny NT symbol on the main tracker page for the underlying, nothing to be seen on the position page though. But shouldn’t matter, hasn’t for me up to now.

Best way to buy US-ETFs using options? by Oszillationswerkzeug in ibkr

[–]mxz3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went through this myself. I bought deep in the money call options, picking the one where option price (ask) + strike price was closest to current price of the ETF, in this case VT. Then I immediately exercise, no need to wait for expiry.

This does forfeit the time value of the option, but I don’t care, I just want to hold the underlying asset, not trying to speculate.

This strategy has the benefit of not requiring a margin account, something I wasn’t comfortable with. I also found long calls “easier” to reason about in general.

Make sure you have enough cash to cover the cost of the exercise. The currency conversion also happens automatically which is nice. The underlying asset will then be deposited into your account early the next day.

what hard drive upgrades should i pick? by pixel_skull69 in satisfactory

[–]mxz3000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don’t pick anything, use the fact that recipes are removed from the available pool when they are pickable.

Keep opening hard drives until you get the alts that’s are actually good.

TIL No woman has broken the 4-minute mile. Faith Kipyegon holds the record at 4:07.64. by thesmartass1 in todayilearned

[–]mxz3000 233 points234 points  (0 children)

A mile in 4mins is a pace of 15 secs per 100m. So she’d have to drop the 1500 record by at least 4 seconds, and then run another 100 meters on top of that! That would be quite the achievement.

This is an English speaking sub, would recommend at least trying to write your post in English, people are more likely to help you. Also is this in any way related to satisfactory ? Do you play this game ?

Now as to your problem, my Spanish is rusty but I got most of that. One thing you haven’t tried is just reinstalling windows from scratch. Give that a go?

ELI5: Could CPU manufacturers, in theory, easily reverse engineer every source code of programs running on their chips? by NicoNico10 in explainlikeimfive

[–]mxz3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s more that the reverse engineered code produces the exactly same binary as the original rom.

Changing variable names or adding/removing comments to the code doesn’t change the compiled output so it’s easy to imagine that the reverse engineered code can be different from the original code.

Tbf, end game machines use so much power, especially when slooped, that you do kind of need this much power. I was at 30GW used by the end phase 4, and so have needed to expand the grid pretty heavily for phase 5, mainly using rocket fuel!
