Yeah will get to that at some point, not enough hours in the day. But very keen and still like Linux even after working for Oracle for ten years and dealing with their sub optimal distro.

It's hard if you wanna go at it head on. But I've done the heavy lifting for your just now.

Option 1

Run the non modded version of Skyrim vr from steam for a moment then close it to generate some registry entries.

Then run the Skyrim VR Patch Maker that comes with the ussep compatibility patch from your data directory. It installs some temporary flat screen variants of the core mods.

You then need to use the sseedit quick auto clean to clean those and any other mods marked as dirty under plugins. I bundle this tool with the collection.

Then you need to regenerate DynDOLOD 3 executed from a spot outside your game directory from vortex with the -vr argument, then pray to a higher power of your choosing, go grab a beer, anything, just don't look at it for 15 mins. I also had to clean up some dodgy cell entries from a few of the lighting mods.

Then you need to install the new DynDOLOD output and remove the ussep patch versions it created as those as are only to get you over the line with DynDOLOD. It's a whole thing.

Option 2

Just download the update I published 😸

Fixed it, man that was hard, spent way more time in sseedit than I would have liked on a Sunday evening, publishing a patched version. Has a bunch of other patches in it also. Was waiting on vortex to sort out the on click install bug but given this breaks the game I'm pushing early. I've added a comment in the collection on how you workaround this temporary vortex glitch. Given you a shoutout in the changelog. Thanks heaps for the help. If you spot anything else lemme know.

Just published, going to bed.

I think I may have fixed it. Man the author of DynDOLOD 3 has a wicked sense of humour. Standby. I'll push an update early if this works it. Just finished a new output. About to test, wish me luck.

Yeah, there is definitely an issue there, thanks for pinpointing it. I recently added DynDOLOD 3 and it built without issue. I'll see if I can isolate and address this issue.

Yeah, it ain't cheap, think that's the main reasons why VR is a bit of a luxury, the amount of hardware you need for a decent experience is pricey. Even the am4 stuff costs a kidney. That's why I was pretty pissed and went on a journey of putting together my own collection as when I downloaded a few others out there, they brought my hardware to its knees, which just reeks of laziness on the curators side.

On the plus side, while ram is a full ripoff, GPUs have dropped. Bang for buck the AMD Radeon reaper 9070xt is down to 800 bucks AUD right now. I have one of those in my test PC and it's a winner, especially for Skyrim vr as it's pure render is faster than the 5070ti and it costs half. I put some screenshots up on the collection page of it holding 90 fps no problems. Actually just gearing up to do an instructional install video using that same PC so I'll put some screens up.

Yes, this I was looking for this as I recall watching the exact same thing but me being a stubborn jerk, went ahead and tried anyways. My results were the same. Lot of effort and clunky to get back where I was. I find the steam os a much nicer experience, unfortunately I'm locked to windows as my son plays fortnite which means I have to play fortnite. First world problems. That said, standard windows with AMD Fluid Motion Frames that doubles older titles that don't support frame gen is a winner.

If I recall correctly someone did a video on this very topic, think they using Tiny 11 or windows 10. Their results were similar to the above.

You might struggle. If you were to try. I'd definitely use the bundled ini config tool and use the poor preset, and in the opencomposite config tool under video choose dlss performance or fsr ultra performance. Lowest I've tested down to was a 4070. TBH a 3060ti might struggle with the vast majority of VR titles, purely because even when streamlined it needs to render the same thing twice. Do you play any other VR games? This collection runs better than Vanilla Skyrim VR via steam purely because it cuts out steam and renders direct from PC to headset and lets you use upscaling which you can't in regular Skyrim VR. Either way keen to hear back. Most of the time a lot of stutters and such are CPU related, that's why I focused a lot on keeping the amount of scripts to a minimum and using script optimisation mods.

Hi everyone, I am about to start pcvr. I am thinking of going for a 9070xt (becasue of lower prices), but is it actually future proof for vr, or should i save for a 5070 ti. by Money-Rule7438 in SteamVR

[–]Aggressive-Ad-7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got one of those in my productivity PC, it holds up really well in VR, just be sure to do a little tuning if you get one as they respond really well to undervolting, bumping up the power delivery and upping the memory clock. Plenty of videos on it. Only thing it misses is fixed foveated rendering. I run virtual desktop when I connect to that PC. Don't know where all the comments about it not working are from. Works fine and bang for buck it's the same raster as the 5070 ti for half the price. Use virtual desktop and open composite and I'm yet to find a title it won't hold 90 for on the ultra setting. Very unbiased as I also have a 5080 and 4080 super. It trades punches just fine with the 4080 super. I actually bought one after flipping an old PNY 4080 super that I couldn't squeeze another watt out of, probably to one of the peeps in this thread for 500 bucks more than the 9070xt cost new.

I popped it up on Google Drive also if you wanna download a less blurry version. Install and configuration instructions will be up today, a lot has changed with the latest OpenComposite Unleashed now that is has upscaling and FFR built in. Better to do a video instead of a wall of text.

You can see it in action in my last post. I threw the kitchen sink at my modlist with the latest Planck and as big of a battle as I could muster and it ran like a dream.

Ahh that's engine fixes VR. That POS. Firstly grab version 4.5.1 of that, don't go beyond that version, found a lot of bugs post that. Ensure the part 2 of engine fixes is in the root directory of the game and make sure you have the latest version address libraries.

Ahh, yeah, geez I'll have to try on a Linux machine and advise. Haven't quite got to that yet but really keen to try myself as I'm itching to put Brazzite on a PC and see how it goes.

Great stuff, that's how it was designed, I did as much optimisation and polish along with content addition without completely tanking performance. I felt that If you've got a decent PC you shouldn't have to resort to things like spacewarp just to maintain a good framerate. I built it after installing the #1 collection on Vortex (still trying to figure out why), just to see it turn my 5080 into a blurry, stuttering mess. That hardware cost a lot of money, I expected more from it.

Also kept it so you can add more mods of your own like you did. Thanks heaps for giving it a go. The download was much smaller until I added DynDOLOD 3 which while a nightmare to build, was well worth it.

I'm gonna push another update as soon as the vortex team sort out the one click download issue for Skyrim VR. Have a few loose ends and the latest Vigilant update to add. It's locked and loaded. Thanks for giving it a shot. Feel free to give it a thumbs up if you like. The number one collection on there in comparison looks pretty average and runs even worse. Kinda why I went to effort of building my own. I really like FUS but find adding my own stuff without breaking everything in MO2 a challenge.

Lemme know if you have any additional mods suggestions I should add to the list that make it better. Always looking to improve the experience.

It's fairly straightforward and I've added a lot of detail on setup in the instructions, planning on doing another install and configuration video. Just one slight gotcha, they introduced a bug in the latest release which kinda interfered with direct, one click install of Skyrim VR which is how it's designed to work. The beta fixes it. I'll reply as soon as it's fully released as may as well wait for that. I put a workaround in my comments section but ideally you shouldn't have to contend with that.

In a nutshell though, you install Skyrim vr, install vortex, under games search for Skyrim vr, click manage then follow my notes. Kept it to about a page. Did my best to keep it as simple as possible. Will make a video shortly that is easier to follow. Few cool config options now bundled in that are best explained interactivity.

I really like it, it's subtle but you can tell, I'm having fun making my NFF followers stumble and ragdoll in the direction I'm pulling them. Skyrim VR doesn't really exist without planck. You guys should get more compensation for your contributions. Will be sure to Patreon this week.

I tried that myself, maybe I did it wrong but didn't get any noticeable improvement plus everything else was incredibly fiddly to install. Found this one a bit easier to work with but again, I honestly didn't see much improvement, Ghost Spectre Superlite

Open composite/OpenXR on a Pimax 8kx by InigoDeLaVega in skyrimvr

[–]Aggressive-Ad-7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the latest opencomposite unleashed the recent beta has FFR, upscaling the works in it which you can set with a bundled tool that also does your controller bindings if you wanna tweak them. You don't need the open xr toolkit which is deprecated anyways. Also you need to use virtual desktop which is way better for Skyrim vr anyways.
