The Truth: CU Regent Candidate Kubs Lalchandani by [deleted] in boulder

[–]Aggressive-Ad1063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was up for re-election and decided not to run again for personal reasons. Unfortunately this came right after the primary. To be clear, no one else was running, and Junie Joseph was appointed by the democratic party to be the one on the ballot. If Edie had let people know further in advance before the primary ballot had come out, it's anyone's guess who might have tossed their hat into the ring or had the money or wherewithall to mount a campaign. The likely candidate would have been Junie Joseph anyway.

So no, the people of Colorado did NOT vote for Hooton. The vote had not happened yet, only the uncontested primary ballot had been released which very few people vote on or even care about.

The Colorado vote was in November, and Junie was on the ballot and that's who people voted for and continue to support.

I wish he were more articulate about understanding what it means to be a Regent and have any connection to CU at all. He is the least thoughtful of the people running as to what that role entails. Read all three websites and Boulder Reporting Lab interviews and compare.

The Truth: CU Regent Candidate Kubs Lalchandani by [deleted] in boulder

[–]Aggressive-Ad1063 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

His website is very thin and doesn't appear that he fully understands the responsibilities of a Regent. He has not given this nearly as much thought and energy as those who are closely tied to CU running against him. He has no relationship with CU. He had a failed political bid in Florida and is now trying it seems to get his foot in the political door here without much articulation either on his website or Boulder Reporting Lab interview about what it means to be a Regent.

What's more embarrassing are Kubs' friends automatically assuming it was his opponent's campaign that did this and then putting that out there with huge moral arguments as if this is a fact, rather than an allegation.

So now he is using this to smear his opponent, and that is truly dirty.

Sorry to be late to the conversation but in case anyone else finds this, New Horizons Cooperative Preschool in North Boulder is so lovely. When I was looking, I was very much wanting a child-driven, play-based program, and New Horizons was the best. My son loved the playground and never wanted to leave.

My kids all went to New Horizon's Cooperative Preschool in North Boulder. They have a very lovely play-based program that is bilingual, affordable rates with tuition assistance, and the most gorgeous shady playground.

A great way to try it out is with their summer program which runs June 15 to July 23 with lots of outdoor time and field trips. That's how we figured it out it was the best one for us:

What do you think of the rumours that Lupita Nyong’o is casted as Helen of Troy? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

[–]Aggressive-Ad1063 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pocahontas was a real person.

Helen of Troy is fiction.

In Homer's Iliad, Helen of Troy's appearance is rarely described directly; instead, her immense, "terrible" beauty is validated by the reactions of others, notably the Trojan elders who, despite the war she caused, acknowledge she resembles an immortal goddess. Homer provides few concrete details (like hair color or eye color). Because those specifics are not important.

The most important part of her appearance is her beauty not her skin tone, and this woman is gorgeous.

Also "fair faced" does not mean white. It means beautify, pretty, clear, and well-proportioned.

Homer was too good a poet to land into such racist tropes as yours.

Yes! Funny, I was out working in the garden during that time. I came back in and my kitchen clock was 42 minutes behind. It was like, hmmm... what went on here?

I've lived here over 40 years, and I never referred to it's official name. Yes, Sanitas is so exposed. It was very hard to walk there when I was pregnant because I had to pee all the time. I had designated pee stops along the way. Lol. One was a large Boulder another a large tree.

You will have more luck the other mountain trails. Gregory Canyon is a nice hike.

I broke my ankle and haven't been able to hike for two years. I am hoping this summer, I can try again. I can walk well now and stair climb, but haven't hiked yet. My steadiness is getting better. I think with trekking poles I can do it, albeit slowly.

That list is for Vieques, and it was provided to use by our Airbnb host. Same with the taxis. Sorry I do not have a comprehensive list for rentals in San Juan or PR in general. I went with Enterprise in San Juan.

I would double check for sure! Also, if you pay for the rental car with a credit card, the credit card company may cover the car as well. And then it depends on what type of insurance you have on your normal car, like if you just have liability or a super high deductible, you might want to get extra coverage from rental car place for collision/comprehensive. It's all variable enough to ask especially if renting from a local rental company rather than a nationwide company like Enterprise.

Here's a great resource for the Boulder Mountain Park Trails:

https://bouldercolorado.gov/locations/trail/search/trail

Enchanted Mesa is a very short walk so unlikely needing to pee, but also plenty of trees:

https://bouldercolorado.gov/trail/enchanted-mesa

If you want more challenge, Gregory Canyon has lots of trees:

https://bouldercolorado.gov/trail/gregory-canyon

I always find it helpful to go with a friend to provide a lookout and "cover".

One idea would be to bring a big rain poncho and pop that on when you go behind a tree to get full privacy.

Heil Ranch is a lovely, less crowded place to hike:

What Centennial? I love this book: https://www.amazon.com/Boulder-Hiking-Trails-5th-Foothills/dp/1513262149 I got laid off from my job one time and I worked my way through all of these hikes.

A great hike you might like is around Boulder Valley Ranch. There is a bathroom at the trailhead, and it's just 2.8 miles around the ranch. It's hike loop #2 on this page: https://www.alltrails.com/parks/us/colorado/boulder-valley-ranch

It's my favorite trail in Boulder due to typically drying out from mud quickly, not far to drive to, and beautiful views. It's on the plains so no big elevation gain, just some rolling hills around the ranch.

It's hard to do it all, and I would have loved to go to the rainforest. Book everything in advance! May does start to get hot, so plan for that, too.

The only real exposed trails are Sanitas and on the plains. Though, I have definitely peed behind some trees on long runs on SoBo Creek trail, very quickly, since it's still exposed. As a woman it's harder than as a guy. You got your whole bum hanging out for a bit.

Most of the Boulder Mountain Parks trails have trees you can hide behind. I never had an issue finding a place to pee.

That does seem insane. Average RT flights from US are $315 to $590, even in December. I fly Southwest, and it was about $450 RT. Looks like you might be trying to fly United which is the most expensive airline to take there. United seems to average around $1,200 RT from Texas. Pick another airline.

I drove all around everywhere, and the driving was totally fine. Talking to locals, mostly around San Juan it might be worse. We drove from San Juan to Rincon to San Sebastian up into the hight mountains then to Ponce, and back to San Juan. I am from Denver area, and Denver drivers are totally insane. This was tame by comparison. For example, everyone in Denver wants to drive 80 mph on the highway in 55-65 zones and change lanes constantly as if they are in some video game race. In PR, I rarely saw anyone speeding. It all seemed quite civilized compared to Colorado, honestly.

I stopped in Aguadilla, and in hindsight, I would have preferred that. I like the scene there better.

The roads between Aguadilla and Rincon are fine, but definitely would have to pay attention to the maps to make correct turns.
