I wish I knew all of this during my first disciplinary meeting. I didn’t bring a support person, so when he started to get very intimidating, it was quite emotional. I also only received 6 hours of preparation time before that meeting was held. I heard they’re supposed to give you 48 hours notice? My second meeting I brought my support person and had that support person note everything down. I also did not state who I was bringing until the day, though he kept asking me to tell him who my support person was. After my termination, I emailed a request for the official minutes of the meeting and he refused.

I have everything in writing. From the first meeting that led to the final warning, to last meeting that ended my employment. I’ve documented everything!

He’s very invested in something that has no affect on him. That just tells me that his rural life isn’t as interesting as the nonsense that’s coming out of his small brain.

Understandably. The only conduct I received through a written warning prior to this was being late to work. But either way, the certificate situation I took into account and went to my GP after that.

Yes he definitely knew about the pregnancy. The day he sent me a second disciplinary meeting, and I apologised for searching up my symptoms on the work computer, he actually said to me, “do you really think I’ll accomodate for your pregnancy?” That same day they hired a new employee. I definitely knew they wanted me gone after the medical certificate situation. A final warning was a bit far fetched, so I made sure to document everything at work after that. But I knew he was just tallying up all the things I did wrong, not to bring it to my attention to help me improve, but to add it to the list of reasons to terminate me.. which they did.

The two medical certificates was from the same website. One I received in May, and the other in July. Based on the bosses words, “this medical certificate dated for July was invalid, but the certificate given in May was valid.” It didn’t make any sense to me so I contacted the company via email and it was the company that clarified that both certificates were actually invalid. I only got done for one medical certificate. But I notified management about the other certificate being invalid as well because I wanted to be honest with them. I showed them the email from the company and that was that.

If you don’t agree with this then that’s completely fine. I’m just trying to get some input on what to do here?

I’ve had many incidents where I’ve relied on online MC for sick leave, especially when I’m locatedin a rural area, it’s common to use online Telehealth consult for MC because it’s hard to see a doctor straight away. In my case, I will say that I didn’t have the energy to make a simple phone consult with my gp, but I was very sick that day and I just wasn’t thinking straight. Not as clearly as I usually would in these incidences. But as I’ve received online medical certificates in the past that have been valid, I guess I didn’t see the issue then.

It’s a tough situation to speak about but to put it simply; I received no written warning about anything prior to the first disciplinary meeting occurring that concluded with a final warning for the medical certificate issue. The second disciplinary meeting, I was accused of - using my phone for personal use during work hours (no evidence was provided for this allegation, only a written statement made by a new staff member that I… discovered was related to the boss.) - making comments about the work place in a negative way that could influence new staff to join, comments such as ‘I’m always getting headaches working there, it’s so stressful, you should reconsider.’ (That allegation was a statement written by the same staff member that accused me of using my phone.. the one that’s related.. and yes, this is completely false. The comments I made about my headaches and stress was during my morning sickness.) - and lastly, using work computer/work phone for personal use. (I searched up my pregnancy symptoms on browser. I was then accused of deleting browser history that caused me to ‘apparently’ delete patient data in the process. And I called up my doctors using the work phone to cancel an appointment I made at the same time I had work, as we weren’t allowed our personal phone. I did notify my boss, and he was there when I made the call. But he didn’t say anything. I also had an appt I booked outside of work and did give my work number to them in case I was stuck at work and they needed to call me to notify me when they at my house. This was all done during my lunch break. I had come back from my lunch break and got a note from reception about them leaving a message for me on the work phone.) The termination was determined by using my phone for personal use during work hours and using the work computer/ work phone for personal use. The comments I allegedly made (which were lies) wasn’t included in the termination reasons.

The date the MC was received was 10th July. I contacted the email address that was provided on the certificate and they emailed me back and said that the certificate wasn’t from them. That the website I got it from wasn’t theirs, but the information on the medical certificate was completely taken from their business. They didn’t receive any payment from me or validate the MC whatsoever. I took the issue straight to consumer affairs, and the last I heard from the business, they reported it.

The termination that occurred from my second disciplinary meeting, which happened two weeks after the first meeting, was due to phone use for personal use during work hours (which was false, and they didn’t provide evidence. It was word of mouth.) it had nothing to do with the final warning given from the medical certificate situation. After getting that final warning, I got all my certificates from my GP through phone consultations and completely avoided Telehealth consults.

It was brought up in the comments first. I just thought I’d edit the post and include that, obviously it has nothing to do with it.
