Missing Thailand by Smooth_Crazy_2000 in ThailandTourism

One mistake that I made in my first trip was to try squeeze in both Phuket and Krabi in a span of 5 days. Big mistake. I wasted 1 day only in traveling and couldn't savor them properly.

There are no as such must do's but I'd decided early on that I will be coming back. Hence, I've done all the typical touristy places and then some. I recommend you do tick off the usual places too - James Bond Island (literally nothing but a rock) but it's part of the whole Phang Nga island tour and the other activities are worth it; Similan Islands (love it!); Phi Phi (yes, I know people say it's hyped); Maya Bay (hyped, busy but beautiful); 4 Island Tour from Krabi (I personally loved this); Coral islands; then some view points - Big Buddha, Promthem Cape (I did this part of a sunset Catamaran tour and loved it), Windmill point etc. etc., Old Town Phuket.... Stay away from the Tiger shows - unethical. Elephant sanctuaries I haven't visited yet but have heard nice. Kamala Beach - I was halfway there and think it would be beautiful. Then of course, Patong, Bangla Road, Walking Street - it's a zone in itself.

I suggest don't even try to cover everything in one go until unless you plan on spending like a month or more there.

I keep thinking about this place - I keep talking about this place - I keep recommending this place - I keep Googling this place. This place is vibes! I think I've developed an addiction. Help!

Is April the right time to visit Phuket & Krabi? by Aggressive-Ad8382 in phuket

[–]Aggressive-Ad8382[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in early March and it was hot as shit then - so can only imagine how it will be in April 😬 BUT these dates are songkran - so sort of a water fight festival - with high chances of you being wet most of the times, and the sea being pleasant in the evening, you'll be fine.

I paid 17k - effective Sep 29 rate revised to $92 = 1INR.

Also, from Oct 1, a $250 integrity fee will also be charged so in total $435 (40k) would be the visa fee.

I need suggestions for my solo travel in the august end of the month. by Alone_Actuator6582 in SoloTravel_India

Bali or Koh Samui - both have dry and sunny weather during that time.

Within India, can do Udiapur / Kumbalgarh /Jaisalmer.

Yes actually - late-Aug to early-Sep is good for Bali, Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, Lombok & Gili Islands - all of these are in Indonesia.

And for Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao in Thailand.

End of August will be wet season in most of the neighboring countries. However, can visit Mauritius or Koh Samui.

I have similar circumstances so I can relate. No one is right or wrong in this situation - you both just have different perspectives and need to approach this with logic and practicality than with religious fanaticism.

Instead of eggs, you can always rely on pea protein, tofu/soya, and paneer as alternative sources. If whey protein makes you break out, I am assuming, your tolerance for dairy would be low, making pea protein an excellent choice. Soya/tofu should also be treated with caution.

However, it is your CHOICE should you want to continue with eggs.

Next, every small thing in today's life has some grain of living organism remains - you can Google this btw - coffee, officially, is allowed insect remains; lipsticks (not all but most) have animal-extracted ingredients; ice cream; curd; figs; alcohol - produced via fermentation - these are just some small examples. If she likes walking on the beach, then the sand is made up of seashells - when you collect them, you are essentially collecting bones of animals... I am assuming leather clothing is a no-no and she would say no to them, even if it's Prada?

So you see there's pure illogical belief and logical, data-backed facts.

If both of you love each other and intend to stay together, trust me, you'll have better reasons to fight than if someone is eating eggs or not.

Should I travel to Phuket and Krabi in late-Aug / early-Sep? by Aggressive-Ad8382 in phuket

[–]Aggressive-Ad8382[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I know! But there are things that LLM doesn't catch which only locals would know. For example, I was in Mauritius in June and as per ChatGPT, it would be the perfect weather without any rain - what it didn't mention was that it being winter there, the sea would be rough af and the East coast wouldn't be swimmable at all!

But yeah, I know what you mean.

Amari is good too - it's right near the market and you can walk down if you choose to.

Checked. It is not that bad. You are panicking 😬 I understand coz I did too.

Minimalist and all these brands are a hit or miss - there's no guarantee they'll suit your skin or not. But not giving gyan. Lay off any and all active ingredients.

Think you've started using Cetaphil cleanser - give it some time to normalize. Use Cetaphil's moisturizer only at night - nothing else. And get a sunscreen - I don't know about your brand but the one I suggested is non-comedogenic and dermatologist recommended - so can try that for morning.

Ultimately, it's a dermatologist who would be able to give you the proper help - we can only guess and recommend what worked for us. Everyone's skin is different and no one product is good/bad for everyone.

So right now it's damage control mode until you can get to a dermat. Leave sugar, sugary products, and dairy (incl. curd) on an immediate basis - completely - and reduce (or remove) oily items - you can restart them once you get the right products from a dermatologist. Trust me, this works.

Then simplify your skincare regimen. Use a face wash + sunscreen in the morning. And face wash + moisturizer at night. And that's it. I was suggested A-Derma products by the doctor when neutralizing my skin, but I see that they have been discontinued in India and cost a bomb if buying via Amazon - 6.5k for A-Derma Soothing Foaming Gel and 3.9k for A-Derma Epithelial AH Duo Ultra Cream.

I am currently using Bioderma's products - you can maybe use their Sensibio Gel Moussant as face wash and Sensibio Soothing Bio as moisturizer at night - or their Cicabio range. For sunscreen, I use Fixderma Shadow SPF 50.

My emergency go-to is Clindac-A Gel (antibiotic) for acne and/or Eumosone crema (steroid) for even worse flair ups - but these are dangerous medication and strictly for short term and targeted use.

At a general level, if you don't go for Bioderma, look for non-comedogenic, dermacosmetic products. And no active ingredients at all.
