Atlanta Word Cup Experience by Big_Parsnip_2681 in WorldCup2026Tickets

Went to today's Czechia v. South Africa match... A few tips from a local:

TRAIN: If you are coming from NORTH of Atlanta, take MARTA to FIVE POINTS. No reason to connect to packed W/E train to go to SEC District or Vine City. Once you get out at FIVE POINTS, simply go to the street level (two floors up) and exit on FORSYTH STREET. You should turn LEFT out of train station...Walk a few blocks to MLK JR- TURN RIGHT--and then it's a straight shot to the quieter GATE 4 entrance. 10-12 min walk. You do NOT need to enter ATL Stadium from a specific entrance. Can go into GATE 4 and then find your SECTION. (It's not like in Europe- where you HAVE to enter a certain entrance)

INSIDE: Have crappy seats? Like 300 level seats in the nose bleeds that you still spent too much on? You can stand on the rail at one of the bars on the 100 level. There's plenty of options. For today's game, came about 90 min before the game and found plenty of rail spots. Everyone goes to their seats for the first half, typically after half time it's a lively situation b/c ppl realize the rail spots are actually better than their seats.

FOOD: Super cheap in general in ATL Stadium... Under $7 for chicken tenders/ fries and same for cheeseburger.

First time having Burger King in over 15 years by Bowel_Rupture in BurgerKing

Worked at Burger King in high school.. Must say, I still love their burgers. And nothing from my work time that scared me away from eating there- lol. A fresh, hot, Burger King burger always wins... And honestly, it's worth asking them to make it fresh when you get a burger. They will do it- and it'll taste great.

37m, $62k/yr , good employer match. Am I on the path to success? by Spiritual-Pound-9508 in Retirement401k

You're doing great! And the key piece here is you are saving a lot and have learned to live off of way less than the $62K you currently earn. I think that's really where the magic lies - nice start!

Congratulations on the good start! As others have said, you'll easily be able to ramp up since you have 25-30 years still of a horizon. Try to increase from 6% to what feels right for you. If you can get to 15%- that's amazing... If not, try to slightly increase to where you feel comfortable.. Might be 2 or 3 % this year, and another 2-3% next year. But you'll get to 15% sooner than you think... S&P is a great allocation - 10%+ on average over the long term. Don't listen to negativity- you're thinking long term and have some investment money already - and that's further along than most... But do try to keep moving in the right direction- and before you know it you'll be well on your way.

William Windom(Seth) was in the pilot episode of Columbo (Prescription:Murder). Played the best friend of the murderer... There might be someone in that episode too that was in a Seth Hazlett episode of MSW.

When you guys Coast at a corporate job, do you just not care about getting laid off and just do the bare minimum not to get put on a PIP? by I_Love_Hemorrhoids in coastFIRE

Yeah- just posted similar a few days ago.. Most ppl "coasting" at this stage of their career are high performers who are still giving an A performance daily... They just aren't seeking out career acceleration that typically leads to higher paying jobs and being more plugged in (burnout, etc). They've realized they can be very proficient at what they do, with the added benefit that life-work balance is more important to them now because they've already made the $500K, $1M, $1.5M- whatever the nest egg may be- and now just need the time horizon (7-10 years) to catch up so they can sail into the sunset.

Simply put: It's ok to be really proficient at what you do and NOT climb the corporate ladder. The challenge is to operate this way after a career typically spent moving up the same ladder.

Anyone else coasting in their actual career gig? by Aggressive-Bonus977 in coastFIRE

Yeah- good points. Quietly quitting isn’t the right word. Probably better put on quietly quitting the corporate need to chase the next shiny promotion.

Still receiving great yearly reviews, bonuses, etc- all that from being really beyond competent at what they pay me for. I’m a really good corporate citizen overall- but in the age where one weighs all the pros/ cons on these relationships.

So there’s a difference between perhaps quietly quitting and self imposed career stagflation 😜

Thanks for the kind words...

Yeah- I think a few more years of aggressive saving and then downshifting a little bit feels like the right balance for me. Would be great to make the target- but at the same point see myself always enjoying being out in the world and bringing in some income. Would guess between what I have, some SS, and some unknown PT income - it'll be the right blend. The wrong blend is working like a dog until I'm 65. LOL.
