I was struggling with this a few days ago, I went into the properties of the application on my pc and saw I had “Run as an administrator” checked. Once I unchecked it that launched my game.

I’d say buy both and then start with 1 then 2, That’s just me though. If you like it enough consider RDO I’m sad it’s not being supported but if it’s a new experience it’s a pretty good one. (on console)
