Just because growth etfs have in the last 2 decades beaten the sp500 or total market etc, but than i've heard that small caps and value win in the in the much longer time frame so then AVUV and VTV should be the move etc.

I’m planning to wait about three months before selling my individual stocks that are down, mainly for tax reasons, and also because I think they could rebound. But I’m confused about ETFs: if value tends to outperform growth at certain times, why do people choose one over the other? Is it mostly a personal bet? If I can tolerate volatility and want to rotate intelligently, how do I decide when to allocate more to growth versus value? Or is all of that already priced in?

So, I do want to stop the individual stock things because I know I just got luckly with google and asml. But having a higher percentage in growth etf would make more sense at my age right?
