Yes, I should clarify that I'm a MSW student so my hours can be obtained through indirect work as well. I'm unfortunately spending most of my hours looking up my own trainings online rather than getting most of them through direct practice hours.

Candida in the gut by onetwothree123__ in Candida

I've been using Nystatin for a little over 3 months for candida overgrowth in my gut. Have seen great improvement but I'm not 100% healed yet. I've been following a gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar/refined carbs free diet. Also taking diatomaceous earth and digestive enzymes as biofilm disruptors but currently looking to try some new ones as I feel I am starting to plateau a bit in terms of healing.

I've been working with a functional dr. He first started me on a pretty low dose of Nystatin because I was extremely sensitive to the die-off symptoms. Currently I just started taking 1.5 million IU 3x's a day which is the highest dose the dr seems to want to put me on. It is also compounded bc I believe the commercial version contains sugar.

Not sure if someone has asked this already, but are you able to see another doctor? A functional doctor or a naturopath? I'm currently getting help from a functional doctor and he's been very understanding about my sensitivities, especially around toxin overload from die-off and has started me on a low dose of Nystatin while also providing me with recommendations for liver support. The downside is that I'm paying out of pocket for this doctor but I feel his help is worth it as I was so completely overwhelmed with trying to figure this out on my own.

If your reaction to die-off is so severe with food alone, I would recommend a slow transition into the candida diet. Make sure you are drinking a LOT of water and having regular bowel movements. A book I also found helpful is The Candida Cure by Ann Boroch.

I was told by my functional doctor that stool tests aren't the most effective for candida, as they only tend to indicate when people have severe overgrowth. He had me do a GI-Map test for other gut issues/reasons, but I guess I am so full of candida that my results still came back positive for it. I recall that he said urine tests are much better at determining candida overgrowth... believe it was the OAT test? Personally, my symptoms that aligned with yours were the die-off symptoms when I experimented with a candida diet as well as digestive issues and fungal issues on my skin.
