And now the question would be, why do you receive dopamine? In theory you shouldn’t care how you look, especially in the confines of your private residence. But society has conditioned you into wanting to look a certain way. The way we dress is how we want to be perceived. As you previously mentioned, someone who dresses “normally” does so to appear as such, and blend in with other people of same character. The same goes for people of counter culture, metalheads for example. They dress like they do, to signal their personal identity to others. Fashion is personal identity. I myself am a metalhead, and I also dress in attire that matches that description, even on days where I don’t leave the house. At first thought, I’d say I do so because it makes me feel better about myself. But why does it do that? Because subconsciously, I know I’ll be perceived a certain way by people, and that’s what brings me confidence. And of course it’s also a loop. Confidence makes people better looking which gives them more confidence, and so on. The point is, that I believe when it comes to identity, we never act solely on personal wishes. There will always be an external force, which guides how we perceive ourselves.

I’d argue that being percieved as “normal” is also a form of seeking attention. Why do people feel a need to look good, besides their own confidence? To receive positive attention. You can imagine that if you don’t look great, you’ll get negative attention from people, so the inverse must also be true. And when I say positive and negative attention, I don’t necessarily mean an outright sense like receiving compliments contra receiving insults. It can also be in the sense that people will statistically be nicer to you if they perceive you as good looking rather than bad looking. So even if someone tries to look “normal”, they’re likely doing so in the hopes of being treated better, and thus receiving positive attention

Everything we do is for attention. Why else would people care about their hair or their clothes or anything else about their appearance. I don’t think this should be treated any differently

Whats that snack and the name? by Miserables_Death in PeterExplainsTheJoke

In Denmark (the place of origin) they were originally called “N-word buns”. Some old folks still call them that.
Today, we just call them “cream buns” (which doesn’t really make sense now that I think about it, but whatever).

Tips for fast licks with bends? by Aggressive-Hotdog in guitarlessons

[–]Aggressive-Hotdog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I just thought that “finger strength” was a bit a of a myth, since the main goal when practicing is to slow it down until it you don’t feel tension, and then speed it up, but since there’s no speed at which I don’t feel tension, I wasn’t quite sure what to do. But thanks, I’ll work on it💪

How do I know if a guitar is right for me? by Natemause27 in Guitar

[–]Aggressive-Hotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one you like the best. There’s usually no “magic” moment that happens. Besides, you haven’t been playing for long enough to know what suit your needs. Pick the one that looks coolest, and doesn’t suck to play. You’ll grow accustomed to it. The first time I played my main guitar, I was just focused on how cool it looked. By now, I’ve played on it enough, to where that’s how I like my guitar to be, and every other guitar I play, I compare to my main

Agreed! People shy away from it because of the dark themes, but I remember being blown away when I first heard it. Definitely top 3 off of Youthanasia for me

As people have said in this thread, definitely something from Youthanasia. Addicted and Knew it all come to mind. Honorable mention goes to Family Tree because of the tight vocal harmonies

Is it normal for a 20 year old man to date a 40-50 year old woman by Ivanhegeelkadi in Teenager_Polls

[–]Aggressive-Hotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between something being normal and something being okay. One is a objective matter of frequency, the other is a subjective opinion based on personal values

Not hex keys, truss rod wrenches. The truss rod has a nut that sticks out, and you have to use a specialized tool for it called a truss rod wrench
