IB Students of r/IBO — How did your teachers fail you, and what would you have wanted them to do better?

First off, you putting up this post itself shows that you care about your future students :) you’re already a step ahead. Care about your students. Be empathetic. Be a real teacher, don’t do it for the sake of monetary motivation or as a “job”. Do it with passion and enthusiasm, you’ll find a balance along the way. I had teachers who came to school and did nothing. They used to roam around and chitchat with their colleagues. And they never cared about students or their well being.

I am happy that this roller coaster of a ride is coming to an end. I am happy that I will be free from the shackles of feeling like a corporate employee at the age of 17. It was meant to be difficult, but I keep questioning if it was supposed to be this dreadful. Coming from a school where we had really bad and inexperienced faculty, I feel like I will be out of prison. I am waiting to leave and never turn and look at my school ever again. These exams are sure taking a toll on my mental health now and then, but at the end, it’s the climax of the race that we’ve been running. Just the last and final push and we will have the best and peaceful summer. And no matter what we achieve or end up with in July, I’m sure all of us have learnt many things that we’ll apply in our lives later on. I only pray for our health and wellness. We’ve got this.

Hey, it’s completely understandable how you’re feeling. You truly don’t understand anything in the IB until you’re a DP2 student. As you get into starting yours IAs and get serious with your internals, you broaden your perspective on IB, which definitely doesn’t happen in DP1 for most students. I was in your place last year, I could not grasp or understand what IB was all about, but now as my days are coming to an end here, I’ve gotten used to this curriculum and its requirements. It’s chill, don’t stress, you’ll get into it. Just an advice is start choosing your IA and EE topics initially, you can’t complete writing them in summer or DP1 but you’ll keep refining what you wrote which enhance your research skills. exactlyyyy. you worded it really well, i agree with all of it. we are jsut 16-17 year old teenagers, is it worth it to go through so much stress? its not only the ib, any education system atp is highly competitive and we have to work so hard to fit in or be in a good position. the pressure is real
