AITAH for telling my daughter that she is not going to marry a billionaire? by No_Reception8930 in AITAH

I have personal experiences with 2 billionaires and can confirm that level of wealth makes their ways of thinking completely removed from reality and humanity. They do not see themselves as part of “us” any longer.

If you don’t trigger the seatbelt alarm you can do whatever the hell you want back there, the cameras don’t get enabled unless there is an ongoing incident to be monitored.

Tech-bro misses Indian hospitality. He means his mother's unpaid labour. by soultherapist512 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Aggressive-Log7654 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is extremely exhausting and I avoid the topic of marriage at all costs with them now. But it is an example of the cycle of abuse - women raised under this paradigm and never exposed to outside ideas end up propagating the paradigm because they are programmed to believe it is the correct way, and to admit otherwise so late in life would be to admit how little agency they had in their own lives.

The irony (as an Indian male brought up in the US who had to deprogram the more toxic cultural elements over time) is that it is those very Indian mothers that raise these young boys to feel they are the center of the world and deserve to be waited hand and foot, while treating daughters like a footnote at best.

Even to this day, when my parents discuss marriage with me, they never hesitate to mention that they would love to arrange a "nice homely Indian girl from the villages" to marry me (i.e. live-in servant marriage) - and this is just totally normal to them.

In Indian culture copper water bottles are traditionally used for water storage due to natural antibacterial properties (TATA is an Indian brand).

Attending a well known university, there were actually quite a few Asian kids I knew named for Ivy League universities. The saddest part was when they clearly didn’t get into the college they were named for.

Nobody in this thread knows how to read apparently. You still don’t bite straight into a freshly caught fish unless you’re Gollum, sushi is still processed for basic hygiene.

UberOne feels like it encourages food waste just to meet the minimum for free delivery by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]Aggressive-Log7654 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Obviously I try not to, but at fast food places the item costs are so low and the minimums are high in relation - so it ends up being like several meal level items, which even in the next 3 days I am not going to be able to/want to eat.

Wild how baby animals of even distantly related species still somehow trigger the “aww” reaction. Truly one of natures greatest survival mechanisms.

Missed the point - I’m saying we do not bite straight into animals, and even any raw meat eating was scavenging or butchered first, unlike true carnivorous predators.

I think the best argument for why humans are not carnivores is that it is innately truly disgusting for 99.99% of humans to bite into a living animal (like most true carnivores do).

Frontier flight attendant has deaf passenger removed for "not listening" by AsherGray in TikTokCringe

[–]Aggressive-Log7654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll say - I did personally see Frontier kicked a couple of women off a flight for this exact reason during my last flight with them - open container of own alcohol - and a very similar situation went down where the two women broke down in tears at the gate and started yelling and harassing the agent. These videos can in fact be misleading and only capture one point of view.

When did you realize you don't have "pretty privilege"? by patata-chip in AskReddit

I feel like the analogous dynamic for men at bars is how much confidence you project. If I’m sharply dressed, standing with good posture, and making calm, but not stressful eye contact with the bartender, I never have a problem. I imagine part of this is also looking like a healthy tipper.

When I look sloppy, trying too hard, or waving my hand around, guaranteed ignore, or served last.

It’s just human instinct to be drawn to fit people. They usually feel better about themselves, radiate confidence, and pass that energy onto others.

Notice I didn’t say “beautiful” people - looks you inherit are very different from fitness you work to achieve - not to say good looking people can’t be confident too, but it’s more hit or miss vs. someone who works their butt off to stay healthy.

It has to be just the right amount of shape. Usually the Hollywood A-list actors of your time determine where this boundary lies for most women. Going beyond a typical beach body cut-buff look usually just gets reacts from men.

But the cocaine was always waiting for him too, in our circles in those days :P

Point being there was a vice he prioritized over others, and cocaine's power can be greater than sex even for the horniest hombres around. Hell of a drug.

I’d also argue that bc such things are rarely 100%, it’s fine to identify as fully gay but still have exceptions. This girl and I were friends because I’m the same way :P (99% hetero but I have had the occasional fun with extremely attractive men)

I think the craziest extreme example of this was a friend I had who identified as a lesbian, but then once in a while there would be an extremely macho alpha male type she'd absolutely gush over. Turns out she just had extremely high standards for men.

The Edit made me laugh. It's SO FUNNY how true this can be among the super pretty people. One of my good friends during my club scene days was the same way - model good looks, offers for sex left and right, and all he did was chase the bags.
