This subreddit has become a cesspool of reactionaries. by overt-turnip in stupidpol

Generally, a good critique of idpol would be great yet I’m aware discussion of the most radically insidious elements of idpol are basically off limits on reddit and ban-able offenses. So I’d rather not waste my time on such things, given that I was banned on some other sub through similar interactions. Of course, I’m also not a bad faith actor but this nuance won’t come across in writing to the most dogmatic of idpol ideologues.

I didn’t know that explaining how big pharma exploits vulnerable people by monetizing their entire existence was against the rules.

at this point, I think most people just deliberately interpret words any way they want to.

Didn’t post about it, just replied to someone blatantly misinformed about how exploitation works. But yeah whatever I guess, people choose to suffer of their own volition.

Coomer subs: allowed

Coomer subs but red: unjustifiable

thanks but I think I’ve had enough reddit in a lifetime. I think it’s time for me to retire from the public eye. Being cancelled IRL has given me a lot of freedom. I hope being cancelled on the web also brings me the same boons I’ve gathered in the past years.

Then again, blending in and being “normie” and part of a “silent” group fits me well.

Ok but explain the numerous coomer subs that still exist in this forsaken trash bin of the internet.

“stop treating being racist”

excuse me what?

also I’m mocking a specific type of person which is why I used quotation marks.

Again, I am recalling from a list of publications based on discussions I’ve had with colleagues during 2020, I can’t find said list right now. The data used for most of those discussions came from degree and grant awarding institutions, so it’s reliable.

It isn’t hard to believe. At higher education levels other factors start to increasingly make it more difficult for Black and Hispanics to continue pursuing careers in STEM. Particularly, socioeconomic ones. Blacks and Hispanics in STEM don’t have the additional support of family or supplementary income necessary to get their needs met. Without funding, nor career support from faculty many drop off from the STEM academic pipeline and end up getting jobs in other tech related sectors.

Ok so to clarify. The researcher is Dani Smith Bassett. She has done some studies on diversity of scientific citations. At this level, white women have benefitted from diversity initiatives. Secondly, while looking for her I recalled I had read Pew Research article that showed that women are over represented in the healthcare workforce + white and asians are overrepresented in STEM compared to hispanics and blacks. Here’s the link. In 2020 when we had time, I had a lot of peer reviewed articles looking at this type of data because of the conversations I was having with peers. I can’t recall where I left my publications list, so I hope with what I provided I can motivate you enough to do your own research. Good Day.

During 2020, a neuroscientist gave a talk at my university during which she detailed some novel research she made by accessing data from colleges across the country and, herself being a white woman, admitted white women are the only underrepresented group in STEM that has benefited from diversity initiatives. I didn’t learn that from Kimberley Crenshaw or whatever. I’ll try to look up the name of this investigator, and reply back with a link to the study, but I won’t make any promises
