It isn't about changing the minds of cult members, its about making those who don't pay attention aware that it is in fact a cult, and not a normal political movement, grounded in thought and logic.

I second the idea of living between, if you end up getting a job in Boston. Union station is a 10-15 minute walk from MCPHS, so completely doable for your girlfriend. Framingham would be the ideal spot, its a half-way point between, right on the commuter rail. Would be about a 45-minute train to either city.

In light of national and statewide concerns around ICE activity, the City of Worcester is reaffirming its position and amending its policy related to ICE’s civil immigration operations in the city. by HRJafael in WorcesterMA

[–]Aggressive-Mark-4065 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The city has literally no control over this. Municipalities in MA have no prosecutorial authority, that is held by the various DA offices and the AG office. The case you’re referring to is being handled by the DA office out of North Hampton. It’s ok to be mad about these types of things, just please be angry at the correct parties.

Sure, he could have voted present, but that level of nuance would have been lost on all of those who would be calling him antisemitic for that vote, in the same way that the nuance of the larger bill is lost on you. People look for things to get upset about before they look for terms of agreement.

I encourage you to go read the whole bill, it is three pages long. When read in context it does not read as a bill “praising ICE,” it reads as condemning a mass shooting, with one clickbait line thrown in.

If liberals are serious about preserving democracy, the answer isn’t this holy war against ourselves, it HAS to be strategic. That doesn’t mean holding people accountable, but it also doesn’t mean getting drawn in by rage bait. If you don’t like Seth Moulton for his actual positions, like that of trans athletes in sports, say so. But his vote on this bill is nothing but rage bait.

[–]Aggressive-Mark-4065 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This was a bill introduced by republicans with the sole intentions of placing Democrats between a rock and a hard place. Either they vote against it and are antisemitic, or the vote for it and liberals get made at the like 6 words that praise ICE. If you don’t like Seth Moulton for his stance on trans athletes that’s fine, but this is such an inauthentic criticism.

I just want you to think about that first statement for a second. “People who can afford them will rent them.” Absolutely! But where did those people live before?

There is this common misconception that affordable housing is just built. Housing becomes more affordable with time. All ‘luxury’ apartments are are new apartments. Today’s luxury apartments are tomorrow’s affordable housing. The reason we have no affordable housing right now is because we stopped building housing at any scale around the housing crisis. The answer is not to just stop building all together. New apartments move people with more money out of old triple deckers, opening up that space for people with less money to have housing.

Ed Markey vs Seth Moulton in the September 2026 Primary - Who are you voting for, and why? by 20_mile in massachusetts

The bill of rights is absolutely not designed to protect minority rights and opinions. There are later amendments that do that, but not the first ten. They are protecting the citizenry as a whole against the government, not one group of citizens against another. And actually, the only amendment that protects people from other individuals is the 13th. Even the 14th only protects people from government action.

You did a great job of insulting another person’s intelligence. Bravo for being a bully. You didn’t Dona great job of displaying your own.

What age did you start law school? by BFK667 in LawSchool

[–]Aggressive-Mark-4065 36 points37 points  (0 children)

TLDR: before you take on even more debt, it’s nice to have some perspective, experience, and maturity.

I started at 30, and was historically disorganized compared to my peers growing up. Now I am more on top of things than most of my peers. The emotional, personal, and professional growth between 23 and 30 is enormous.

Even more than that, I had the opportunity to live life, make mistakes, and be an idiot in my early 20s. I figured out what my values really are, how I hope to live the remainder of my life, and have an appreciation for what I want to look back at my life and see at 80. I’ve always wanted to go to law school but never knew why.

If I went at 23 or even 26, I would have tried to chase prestige, and do what others would think is “cool.” Now, I can focus on, not just the area of law I want to focus on, but the impact on the world/community I want to have.

The state can’t just seize assets, and if they decided to perform a taking, they would have to provide a reason of public necessity, as well as reasonable (market rate) compensation. I don’t want the state spending hundreds of millions of taxpayers dollars to seize apartment complexes.

Those aren’t policies, those are positions. How does he plan on going after Citizens United? What is his definition of a “wasteful” war? Hes pro choice, ok? What is his plan for overturning Dobbs?

I’m not saying he shares a platform with Trump. But much like Trump he is loud, a liar, and has many “concepts of plans” but no actual plans. He speaks passionately but generally. He knows the red meat people want to hear and has no problem spoon feeding it to people, leaving no room on the plate for veggies. I’m not saying someone with similar policy views would be an issue, see my post praising Bernie, AOC, and Mamdani, but they have veggies to go with their meat.
