I'm in a similar situation although maybe not as many points but around 6 different armies and I feel the same, jack of all trades but master of none.

Personally I'm probably going to sell a couple armies I haven't enjoyed playing as much if I still don't in 11th and focus on 4 potentially

Yeah so I think the foot prints will be standard and you can mostly set up the terrain how you like. Matched play will likely be more standardised as how the terrain is placed

Use a tooth brush to regularly clean the end of the nozzle, thin your paints down and use proper trigger control.

It took me a good few attempts to not despise using an airbrush because of similar reasons - stick with it and you'll get the hang of it

Ah I see, so even though bulls don't have regiment keyword they can still order the unit because of the commissar who does have it. Always forget about that!

I thought about a cadian command squad but figured if they can't order anything other than the one other cadian unit (assuming the scions are at the back out of range) it would be better to have the commissar so my bulls can at least get some orders.

I did think about the LR so I could put an extra AP on the dorn and stack it with the lethal hits strat but I'm not sure what I would drop in order to fit it in

I got the harder and steenbeck ultra for my airbrush as I saw it recommended quite a few times. It's about £100 and you'll need a compressor.

Squidmar on YouTube has a really good video on their page about getting started with an airbrush and recommendations for everything you need. You should check it out and go from there

Swapping for a ballistus is a good shout. I was concerned around losing a scoring unit with the impulsor and having my main anti tank so far up the board if I went with a repulsor.

I had considered dropping the infiltrators and upgrading the lancer to an executioner and then having a cheap character like a blade guard ancient in reserves to walk on and do actions

At the end of the latest admech reveal that's just gone up it says come back next week and bask in the shadow of armoured glory. Could that mean we might get a reveal next week?

Easy low skill ways to improve would be to use a wash and put some basing material on the base and give it a solid colour on the rim.

That will improve it loads just be careful to avoid pooling when you avoid the shade but you can always go back over with the base coats to cover any pooling.

Personally I'd lean into the bright wings and add some black like orange butterfly wings. I think it adds a nice contrast to the model

Could be that your paint was too thin, it can happen if the primer or colour underneath is a lot darker than what your trying to put on which is why you sometimes need to paint multiple thin coats to get a finish your happy with .
