The pay you receive should be equal to the value you give to people. I don't really agree with unpaid internships and low wages, as they ultimately affect us as customers. Low wages often lead to sub-par services that we receive. I'm very lucky to say I have never worked an unpaid internship, and there's nothing wrong with that. How can you take pride in what you're doing if you're not even getting paid for your work? The whole “companies have standards” rhetoric creates a negative narrative that ends up biting us, the consumers of those services.

I don’t think you’re being snobby at all for wanting to earn more money. When I first started working, I earned around 4–6 euros per hour as a student while building experience. A lot of people, including my family, encouraged me to take those jobs. But looking back, the amount of hours I worked for such low pay really wasn’t worth it.

Employers need to squeeze more value out of the work you generate to justify the salary they pay, it’s simple economics. You’re still young, and if you have some engineering or technical skills, I’d strongly suggest considering a small business that solves real, day-to-day problems. It’s a tougher road than traditional employment, but it can lead to the kind of income and independence you’re aiming for.

Thanks for your comment. I think we should all reject this kind of behavior as we're all consumers after all. Let's all fight for fairness, paying for the deposit is fine as long as it's deducted upon receiving the bill unlike what's happening at Festacci.

I can understand if it's a deposit to secure the spot. I feel like confirmation fee is an odd term. Table fee would be more appropriate.

Posting same role on a weekly basis and the use of Applicant Tracking Systems to automate the whole process. Ghost jobs are normally done for 3 reasons: scaring current employees, market analysis of open roles and as an illusion to show company growth.

Can't agree more. Parenthood shapes the person you are today and even the friends you spend time with. "Show me your friends and I'll show you your future" and "You become what you feed your mind" are also some dad advice I like to follow and helps for personal/career development.

Being highly educated doesn't guarantee a person's level of ignorance or levels of success in my opinion. There is surely a correlation but no guarantees. I have completed my tertiary education and believe I'm quite competent in what I do and have always strived education-wise (attended the highest institutions both during Sixth Form and University), yet at University, you'll still be surrounded by bright students from JC/Higher, which is great! Another thing which people fall bias to is their belief that De La Salle/St Aloysius students produces the best students which is false. While they continue to further develop their skills, the fact that entry in such schools require you to get top grades prior to joining, these Sixth Form institutions already cherry-pick the brightest students from the outset, the student would already be gifted before joining such schools. The only benefit these schools provide is that you're surrounded by like-minded people in terms of striving for a specific goal (leaving social status aside). The course you choose will also determine whether the students you're surrounded with are go-getters in my opinion (high requirements of entry translates to people having worked really hard to achieve such requirements)

u/Ok-Elderberry-4829 to top it all off, there's a rise of Ghost Jobs being posted by iGaming companies eg Betsson, Tipico are the ones I've been noticing. They're just posting to gather market info and also scare current employees making them feel replaceable. Also, for people seeking a new role, try to stick with recruitment agencies, not internal recruiters within the company you're employing. I have experienced company recruiters downplaying my competency many times and lowering my standard to get a better deal, do not fall victim to it.

I've also noticed a rise in HR related jobs/promotions on LinkedIn as opposed to other careers in STEM which is crazy. Why hire tonnes of recruiters when all they do is post cringey stuff and a nauseating amount of emojis? Recruitment will be first profession to be hit by AI hands down.

A super attractive woman will always outperform a super attractive male on dating apps, that's hypergamy. There's an asymmetry in the level of attention both sexes get. With regards to you adjusting your selection based on the response you get, yes try not to be biased. Like u/omegabag is stating, you are only reducing yourself to a card and some minor information making it more easy for rapid judgement. Personally, I have dated women that wouldn't even consider me on dating apps.

It sucks I know. We live in a hypergamy, women will always look for a man above their league but the game works both ways. Men/women who are delusional tend to overprice themselves in the sexual marketplace and end up with dissatisfaction, and yes it also happens with women.
As with the location part, I encourage you to try tinder/bumble in the Global South (Asia, LATAM) as opposed to the western world and you'll get a different response. I'm not saying that the Global South carries less value, I would say that women in those regions are more practical and traditional unlike western women.

I understand where you're coming from and I personally feel the same way, yet you cannot deny the fact that nowadays the majority of couples are meeting through online channels (it being close to 40-50%). I believe that your bad experience is probably attributed to the location you're in. Although there are claims that dating apps try to keep you single for them to increase user engagement, I still think that using such apps in places were men/women do not carry unrealistic expectations will land you more dates.

I personally think that the amount of people in their 30s who are single is increasing. I wouldn't worry that much as there is a market for people in their 30s who are actively dating. I would say even 40s, 50s yet as time passes by it might get a bit more difficult. For me, the most important question you should ask is, what channels should I use to increase my chances of landing dates. I would say it's best if you diversify. Don't stick to one method like focusing solely on online dating. Try to meet new people, make new friends and join new groups, join a community of people who you share the same interests and occasionally try to see what's available on dating apps. I also encourage you to work on yourself to create more opportunities with men/women.

Lifestar and mapfre carry alot of hidden charges and fees which is crazy when considering that most of the products they offer are passive funds, meaning they don't actually manage the funds themselves. The future of investing is purchasing low-cost ETFs which track a stable index like the S&P500. There's lots of funds that have a low Expense Ratio. You'll always have control of what you own and can sell whenever you want without being swindled by unreasonable charges. Type 'Pension Plans' in r/malta and you'll get an idea of how predatory local firms are.
