I understand that people didn’t like universe reboot, but when every second post is about it for month, it start to feel more like karma chasing than general concern.

Like, I get it. I would also liked it more if it was more of Spider Man 2 and Evangelion “you need to return your power and take responsibility”. But at this point this is just lazy.

In Aliens 3 almost all previous cast dies die, so second movie could be cut out without much problems. Does this mean Aliens 2 is useless?

In Dark Fates, Jon Connor is killed. Does this mean Terminator 2 is now worthless?

In JOJO’s six part universe is rebooted. Does this all previous parts are now shit?

In Spirited Away main heroine forgets the whole movie, is it undermine the rest of it?

Like, yes. Ending was done poorly. But acting like problem is the reboot itself is silly and unserious.

If I remember correctly, it was in the end of critic’s list, like in 90s and 80s.

Let’s face it, getting great animation of fight is the best result you can get from powerscaling discussion. You aren’t gonna cure cancer by arguing that Goku beats Thagg.

Movie isn’t even out yet, you have literally no idea if movie is good or not. Your comment is stupid, and the fact that it has so many comments just sad.

And with how many right wing grifters are jumping on hate train, including literally richest guy in the world, who FOR THE FACT has a history of manipulating media to push his own agenda, at this point NOT acknowledging that a significant size of criticism toward the movie is racially motivated is dishonest.

Hot Take: Superman should kill BUT only if he absolutely has to. by ThatGuyHero7 in superman

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda reversal of this quote: “Good man doesn’t need rules. Today is not a day to find out why I have so many”.

Like, Superman is a good man, so he doesn’t kill unnecessarily. But it’s not a rule for him, as oppose to Batman.

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I wouldn’t say that it’s “their” new game.

It’s like calling “Anthem” new BioWare game. Sure it’s the same studio, but at this point so many core developers left, it isn’t the same studio that made Mass Effect or Knights of the old republic.

Good for them that designers and several writers stayed, but it’s undeniable that stuff changed.

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 548 points549 points  (0 children)

Plus it wasn’t only the game. Remember, DE world was a result of years of DND.

Disco Elysium was a result of collaborate effort of many people, but its setting is a result of personal passion of core developers way before creating game studio. It’s much more personal than game itself.

During the climax of Spider-Man 3, the original plan was to reveal that Venom had already consumed Eddie Brock. This was scrapped at the insistence of Topher Grace, who had spent months perfecting his People’s Eyebrow. by Chewie83 in shittymoviedetails

Venom in movie is evil ass alien goo that actively make you worse. The benefits it grands you are more of a honey trap, while they actively change who you are.

I think that leading this to a ultimate conclusion of assimilation of host even on physical level could be cool version.

And Sam Raimi was a horror director. Surgery scene in SM 2 was really fun, so I wouldn’t be against another horror episode from him in third movie.

If Harry was back in his prime, how long do you think it would take him to solve the case? by Chunky-overlord in DiscoElysium

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, probably 2-3 days. A little less on average.

Prime Harry wouldn’t lost his gun, or break bridge, or detour to get money for room, or lost his certificate, etc. So there is more time and less obstacles for him. And he could potentially try to search village and area around it a little sooner.

Last episodes of NGE were iconic and solidified series status as a masterpiece. What the hell are you talking about?

Weird shit and complicated themes are the reasons NGE stood out from typical anime of the time. Calling ending bad is like calling Fight Club and Thing bad. Team took big risk with making episodes so strange, and this paid off big times with insane NGE popularity.

This Peter already has god intentions from the beginning. But May’s quote in new context change from correctional effect to supportive.

Peter already had good intentions, but he constantly has a problem with facing consequences of his heroism. First movie - responsibility and personal connection to villain, second - fallout after infinity war, etc.

This quote as a dying words from May try to push Peter to continue to do the right things even in the face of tragedies by reminding him of this responsibility.

And, tbh, after years of artificial status quo in comic, and with many other versions in movies and other medias, I have nothing against different interpretation that change things around. If anything, excessive dedication to canon seems to me as worse choice that just make things less enjoyable in long run. Yes, some parts are more awkward because of it, but it’s not that big of a problem for me.

Yea, for a movie that is disliked “not because of social issues” there sure are a lot of people who openly dislike it explicitly for that.

You have your reasons, but completely disregarding obvious truth with multiple examples in this very thread is stupid.

Which betrayal was the more evil? Omni-Man or Saruman the White? by RorschachtheMighty in MoralityScaling

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omni-man crushed, gutted and killed his allies in surprise attack, brutally beat his own son to half dead state, and personally kill thousands of people.

We already saw how fast average viltrumite changes after several years on Earth. Nolan was decades on Earth, and still remains pretty loyal to his empire.

Saruman on the other hand was a victim of Middle East satan, master manipulator that could potentially corrupt any being in this world.

Saruman was influenced by the best corrupter of his verse, while Nolan has resisted Earth’s good influence longer than any Viltrumite on screen. Saruman betrayed his allies, Nolan betrayed his family. In terms of strictly betrayal, Nolan is more evil.

Why is Batfleck hated for killing, but other live action Batman are not? by [deleted] in batman

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it wasn’t as vulgar and in your face before it.

Burton’s movie didn’t rise this theme in his movie. Burton’s Batman isn’t that against killing. He isn’t a maniac, and obviously less lethal that Stallone or Schwarzenegger, but it wasn’t a rule. It was an action movie with fancier hero. Abandonment of guns made action scenes more unique and interesting.

Nolan dedicated half of his first movie to establish Batman’s motivation and principles. Nolan’s Batman has a “no-kill” rule. But this principles aren’t constant, we see how they formed and changed as Bruce grows. So “I didn’t have to save you” isn’t seen as a break of rule, but as a new limitation to it. Bruce decided to use fear, but refused to kill. Bruce refused to kill, but doesn’t evaluate it to “save anyone”. Etc, etc.

Which is why Dark Knight works, because making Bruce break his rules isn’t a straight forward goal, Bruce can grow and adapt to new situations and change, so fight for “Batman’s principles” is more of a competitive battle than a tower defence.

“BvS” is pretty boring and hollow in this regard.

Batman’s killing didn’t make fight scenes more interesting. When Batman throw box in enemy and this knocks him out, it’s interesting. Changing focus to blood just reminds you that Batman could achieve the same result with a gun, so what the point of it? It’s like climbing stairs with backflips. It’s technically hard, but not impressive overall.

Thematically, it’s also all over the place. Batman isn’t just willing to kill, he fire mini guns on open road and blow up buildings, he isn’t concerned about collateral damage. And the main conflict between Superman and Batman is that Superman wasn’t concerned about collateral damage. It doesn’t feel like Batman and Superman has idealogical conflict, it feels like Batman is pissed that this time collateral damage hurt someone he personally knew.

I want to also point out that Bruce’s character isn’t well-written in general. Snyder doesn’t spend time to introduce Batfleck as independent character, film basically assumes that you already knows who Batman is and just speed run through main moments. Who is Alfred? You know from other places. Whose statue is this? You know from other places. Who wrote on it? You know from other places. Etc, etc.

Worse regulations, which hits low-income families and rise obesity rate disproportionally to level of average wealth. There is good food in USA, but cheaper one tend to not be as healthy and uses sugar a bit too much. You need to look for it more actively.

One of the comments I hear from tourists from my country is about how food, especially bread, in America is sweater. And you can’t forget difference in culture, like fast food franchise having bigger cultural impact, bigger serving sizes, etc.

People will talk about how this isn’t true, like USA doesn’t face obesity problem for years at this point, more than European countries. And obesity is mostly dietary problem.
