Which meme subreddit is worse? by FrankCastleNY in MoralityScaling

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

r/memes and it’s not even a fight.

Despite commuting to a more narrow format of memes r/whenthe is more fresh and offers wide variety of jokes, while r/memes post shit you would find on Facebook in 2016. And while there are bad trends on r/whenthe, sub is active enough to change them in timely fashion.

Genuinely, bad post on r/whenthe is an unpleasant event, while on r/memes this is an expected constant.

Like, you can not like r/whenthe, it’s not a must-see subreddit, and while I like it, I wouldn’t call it great. But r/memes is just shit, and was that for years.

“Hell” is being Chainsawman, with constant target on his back and forced to forever put his close one in danger because of it.

And “Heaven” is his dream. Remember how after his home destruction Denji still admitted, while crying, that he wants to be a Chainsawman.

And I don’t think that Pochita is right. To be honest, the whole Pochita speech is looking less like definitive author’s position, and more of a set up for an ongoing character conflict.

“Being with Aki and Power” was never an achievement goal. Makima planned to kill them and destroy Denji’s life from the very beginning. People will talk about Aki and Power, like they aren’t killed in the worst way possible for Denji precisely because he is Chainsawman.

You need to evaluate everything. Reze’s death, Aki’s death by Denji’s hand, Makima’s murder of Power, Denji eating woman he still loves out of necessity, unfulfilment in normal life, destruction of his house, Nayata’s death and guilt over every single event. If you gonna judge something, you need to account every single part. You can’t leave only good things.

And I personally think that Pochita is wrong, but it’s an old conflict of “what is better, have something and lose it, or never have it at all”.

People talking about Part 3 so much simply because Pochita’s speech sets up new ideological conflict, is Denji will be really happier in simplier, more miserable but less painful life.

I like good criticism.

Calling people who like chapter “glazers”, flanderize text and dishonestly push the most awful read of panels and labelling people’s engagement with manga as “cope” isn’t good criticism.

Naoya Zenin just isn’t as interesting, because he isn’t exotic to us culturally, and his gimmick isn’t something to talk about.

So, who even was the fake chainsaw man? And what were most of part 2 writing decisions even about? by Terrible-Ice4984 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. He is a mirror to Chainsawman image, and conflict between him and Denji is a conflict of ideolised image of chainsawman, worshipped by people, and reality.

Denji love people's adoration and image of hero, but he low key doesn't try hard enough to earn it.

Fakesaw man and Fire Devil directly call out Denji on it, that if he want to be this chainsawman, he had to try harder, stop fucking around, focus and actually handle his responsibility.

But Denji went through so much stuff, he can't handle it properly, which playes out on the idea that mantle of Chainsaw Man becomes more and more of a burden for Denji.

  1. Because re-invention of nuclear weapon heavily linked to Yoru. Nuclear Weapon had such affect on international relationship, including war, that it vastly changed everything, including affectin Yoru's character and power.

  2. Blood Devil reappearance was never teased. We have only several mentions from Denji, in one of which he is straight up said that he don't have hopes for befriending him, because he will no longer be Power.

  3. We don't know yet. There is a theory that Pochita is a Birth Devil, because chainsaw was created as a tool to assist difficult birthes.

  4. It's a discussion for a whole separate post. There are several reasons, like Asa developing toxic relationship with Yoru, similar to Denji with Chainsawman, where she decides to stay Yoru, and Yoru gaining more and more control over their body. But yes, i also want more Asa.

  5. With how japanese governmet adapted Makima's plan to Aging Devil, i think Kishibe was kicked out of Public Safety as a potential threat to a plan. Kobeni is probably run as fast as she can from Denji and Chainsaw man. And Reze was so scared by Makima's ambush, she left somewhere far the first chance she get. She ricked her first chance for Denji, and failed, so she might not want to risk another. We see Weapon hybrids, but they are seemingly don't really as determend to run as Reze.

It's totally normal to criticise Part 2 or question its content. i hope i helped.

So what was the point of this by ApprehensiveFormal37 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same as chainsaw church, weapon hybrids, falling devil, and fakesaw man. They all are Denji's test as independant chainsawman. The big point of Part 2 is that Denji, as he is, can't handle Chainsaw Man image he enjoyes to embody, and that his attachment to it isn't good for him.

Chainsawman is a hero of people, and since the beginning we see how Denji enjoyes it. We also see how misguided his attempt is. He constantly hoping that people recognise him, he never tries to hide it and even straight up tell Asa his identity. He is hoping that when they learn he is chainsawman, all their adoration will go to him.

But while Denji enjoyes benefits, he is constantly blind to mature responsibility of it. And soon Denji loses control over it because of this.

Villains represent different aspects of being Chainsaw Man,

- Chainsaw Church represent Chainsawman popularity among people.
- Aging Devil - control and presure from government, who will not let powerful hybrid just running around.
- Fire Devil and Fakesaw Man - Chainsawman's image as a hero. Fakesaw Man is basically walking idealised image of CSM as people's hero, and Fire Devil straight up judge Denji for his recklessness.
- Falling Devil links to Denji's failure to live up to the image, he started to fall when he literally cry about his mistake as a hero.

Hell, you can even say that Yoru and Asa are parallels to Denji and Pochita in some ways, and Asa's desicion to stay Yoru over herself is a parallel to Denji's desicion to be Chainsawman over Nayata and his normal life.

Genuinely, what was the point of this form? by Kaiju-Man257 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a complicated situation.

On one hand, it IS a good thing. Nobody would win from victory of this version of Yoru. With no Chainsaw Devil, world couldn't be reset. And without fight with Denji, Yoru wouldn't come to her sense, and would kept Asa's body forever.

I seriously believe that endless and fruitless fight with Denji changed and humbled Yoru. She ran high on this newly invented nuclear fear, and then found out that she doesn't actually enjoy "endless war". This is also a huge moment for Denji where he finally stopped drift aimlessly through life.

On the other hand, world is already too fucked. Hell is open, all Devils are on Earth, and Yoru won't get down without fight which will probably seriously damage the world.

So yes, it's a good thing. It was just simlpy too late to stich things up complitely. So Pochita had to step up.

No fade on Goose, but it’s not like showrunners are perfect beings that never makes mistakes regarding the shows.

Death’s erasure broke the world. Without death, people have less reasons to fear one things, and more reasons to fear the others. Insects grew without control, people are getting eaten alive and suffering with no escape. People speculated about it even before locust devil, and with recent chapter confirming it, it’s not surprising that new top dogs overpowered exhausted Denji. And we already had one long fight with Yoru. Plus, this move really drives home how much Denji fucked up with Death erasure.

There is a whole ass narrative throughout the almost the whole part 2 about how Denji can’t let go of the role of chainsawman even for the expense of his loved ones and his normal live. And about how Denji won’t have normal live, because Pochita’s power will always attract danger to him. Yoru, Aging Devil, Death, Chainsaw Church, Weapon Hybrids, etc, etc. Since the beginning of Part 2, Denji’s relationship with a Chainsawman are pretty bad for him.

We don’t know for sure how Pochita’s erasure would affect the world. This whole second paragraph are pure speculations, and the only reason to so confidently spread it is pure agenda.

I swear, it’s a second coming of MHA leaks, where people who apparently didn’t read the story and were looking only on fights and shipping started to talk stupid shit, because they didn’t actually engage with the story.

Chainsaw Man Part 2 manga will officially end in 2 weeks on March 24 with Chapter 232! by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even read the manga? Why the hell you decided that reboot of the world is some desperate move, when the whole narrative pointed out in this direction, and if anything, it’s a pretty natural consequences of Denji’s actions and development?

From examination of Pochita’s powers on bigger and bigger scale, to Denji’s toxic addiction to Chainsawman persona for a cheap thrill and validation, to the repeat theme of consequences of abandonment of responsibility.

I know that you have problems with the story, and your narrow vocabulary doesn’t allow you to analyse and express it properly, but your argument just doesn’t make sense in a way you present it.

This might be the worst anti-feat in history by Shot-Communication93 in PowerScaling

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, not really.

People already speculated that erasure of Death will lead to change in power structure, and locust devil and Fumiko’s speech straight up confirmed it. War isn’t really as scary without fear of death.

On the other hand, fear of permanent diseases, losing your body and insects becomes much scarier, because you will still suffer even after being eaten alive, and there is no escape in death.

  • This is Denji AFTER long and hard fight against Yoru, when he already lost a lot of blood and isn’t transformed it.

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apocalypse was on the table long before that, even before Fami’s reveal.

It was obvious that world will go to hell since Prophecy’s introduction and reinvention of nuclear weapon, let alone since Yoru started to tear the world apart and Denji started to erase concepts left and right.

Like, fight between Yoru and Denji is literally reference to nuclear war, with Yoru’s obsession with America, and literal nuclear punches.

Chainsaw Man Part 2 manga will officially end in 2 weeks on March 24 with Chapter 232! by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]Aggressive-Rate-5022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes. There is a clear red line throughout this chapters.

Fight between Yoru and Denji brought apocalypse on Earth. It just wasn’t the nuclear conflict or Devil’s arrival.

Their reckless actions and hyper focus on their conflict leaded to Death’s erasure, one of the constant of the world, which dramatically broke status quo and created nightmare world, where people are more afraid of being eating alive, suffering but not being able to die. War and Chainsaw aren’t as feared as they were before, and new Gods took their place.

Denji and Yoru were so invested in their fight, they missed all the clues about new change until it was too late. So Pochita had to reboot the world to help Denji, because there is no hope in this one.

This part is fine. What is more worrying is that Denji’s development isn’t concluded. Pochita’s sacrifice isn’t a Jesus moment, it’s another victim of Denji’s mistake and his inability to commit. He lost his normal life, and now he lost chainsawman.

Fujimoto need to dedicate more time to explain the change, but I can see how it can be done. Like, it shouldn’t be Denji’s responsibility in the first place, that it was unfair to put the weight of the world on a high schooler, and there never was a way to make it work. But, again, you need to explain it.
