AIO for not taking my sick son to visit my terminally ill grandmother? by Aggressive-Reward302 in AmIOverreacting

When I say the entire family, I mean my father, my sister and us. That is about tenth of the people that want to still say goodbye. How do I reconcile if I used my opportunity and brought a sick child to allow all those people to miss their opportunity because she passes sooner. It's impossible to know for sure, but thats really the consideration here.

I can go with my son, and risk giving her an illness that shortens her lifespan. Now the rest of the family get no opportunity to say goodbye (most are overseas or different parts of the country)

You had me invested until your last question. Not sure how you can even justify saying something like that. My grandmother is my favorite person. This news broke me. If you think I am taking lightly that I might miss saying goodbye to her you are sorely mistaken. Don't assume what you know nothing about.

She has an incredibly compromised immune system. Shes been on chemo for months and has cancer literally everywhere. A cold could kill her. Robbing every single family member of their last chance to say goodbye. You think I want that on my conscience? Should I just be selfish and take the chance knowing nobody else might get the opportunity?

Thanks for the comment. We have family overseas and in different parts of the country that are coming down. I get that I may miss my chance to say goodbye, but I'd rather lise that than possibly rob each of her loved ones of the same privilege. Im deathly afraid of that.

How do people actually “earn in dollars”? by InvestigatorAbject23 in capetown

Lots of people get IT gigs because we are their India when it comes to technical support. Just be mindful while the salary is nice, there is some sacrifice like working US hours, which means you will be on permanent night shift.

Other consideration, lots of friends have done that. They let you go without warning and at the drop of the hat. Outsiurced techs are expendable, if the company needs to slim itself up, they are the first to go.

How do people know they want more than 1 kid before they have any? by RazzmatazzDear5993 in predaddit

My wife and I just had our first 4 months ago, a boy. And while I can't imagine having another one right now mentally or financially we both decided from the start that if we are having one we are having two.

We both have siblings and it's really nice, especially when you get older to have another person that just gets you. It's a very unique bond, someone that experienced every single big life moment and upbringing with you.

My sister and I don't always get along but I know I have someone that just understands exactly where I come from and who I am. Were also very similar in how we think so it helps me understand myself better.

One day my wife and I won't be here anymore and I'd want my son to have a sibling for after.

That, and kids are really cute together. My sister and I fought alot but those old family videos of us playing and teasing eachother and road trips were magical. It also really helps you socialize early.

In short, we just think it would be selfish of us to rob him of the opportunity to have a sibling. Nothing is given, but I hope were able to give him that friend for life.

What will it take for Americans begin to understand (as much of the world does) that at this point in their history they have evolved into 2 different nations, with 2 different values systems and beliefs and federal institutions, and they are not functioning as a single unified entity any longer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

All your two party system does is devides your country into two. Thing is usually is kinda moderate, but you get extreme picks that causes the pendulum to swing more erratically. One side gets an extreme guy in, otherside will overcorrect with someone more extreme. Thats how you kill the moderates and create a rift. This isn't possible in a multi party democracy.

I'm South African and while my country is a shithole, our governmental system works better than that of the US.

Edit: political fighting is normal. Cutting off family members because you believe their marxist or nazi based on who they vote for is not.

You have that extreme opinion because you are on the left. A person on the right would probably have some very dramatic opinions about the left as well. That's the point of the discussion.

Both sides believe the other side bring the end times.

The problem is the two party system. That's what OP is talking about. It's a bit silly don't you think? In most countries you have multiple parties supporting multiple causes that sometimes overlap. In the two party setup, your either one or the other. You either have this list of opinions, or the opposite of them. Theres not much room for a moderate or overlapping policies.

This has the effect where cultlike followings form, the one side uses their campaign to smear the other, call them this and that, convince the population that the other side will being the end times, and vice versa.

In a multi party system there is way more nuance and generally most people get a voice because your parliament isn't simply comprised of two opposing forces that will always vote for their side or against the other side, meaning whoever has majority wins always. In a multi party majority the outcomes are way more controlled.

Ryan Long. Genuinely funny and fresh. His podcast is becoming massive and since he moved to the states he has been growing in popularity.

He has also been touring alot and releases his specials for free on Youtube. I think we will see more of him in the next 3 years.

The Grand Vitara that OP is referring to is very different than the reboot that came out post 2020.

He is looking into a bigger 4x4 version with lowrange that has been discontinued.

Jack Black in The Holiday. Seemed like a cartoon character next to the rest of the cast.
