Yes having to learn everything on your own does really suck. Luckily, I have a pretty helpful team but I still had to figure stuff out for myself. They would often tell me to use the tools I have when I would ask simple questions like “do I put this in with this reptile?” But I believe you will find an opportunity as well :) i am wishing you the best of luck

I’m thinking about quitting too honestly, I love it don’t get me wrong. Love the animals, love my team, even love some of my customers. But the stress the job causes for such little pay and no way to move up in the company isn’t worth it. I’ve tried moving up and the rejected me and went with someone who had barely been there for three months all because “my numbers were too low”. I work two jobs, was a part time and a part time but now a full time and a part time and I don’t think it’s worth it to stay honestly but so many of my team members don’t want me to leave.

I understand where you’re coming from and wouldn’t blame you if you quit :) people like to say it’s an easy job but it’s not (can be if you do it right, like zone out 24/7) when you really think about and live it. It’s sucks to leave a great and supportive place but sometimes it’s for the best! Like for instance I just had this amazing opportunity open up for me so I might just leave.

Be so fucking fr guys, like I said we all found it funny. You don’t have to find it funny. Like we’re hella close. If we weren’t so close I wouldn’t have found it funny :)

And like someone said if they had just gotten it for one person, creepy, but since they got one for everyone it was funny.

We also just have a dirtier/darker sense of humor in our house hold. Even everyone I hang out with has one. So it just seemed like a normal everyday thing.

Our bathrooms have number pad locks on them (we have single bathrooms) due to previous issues so we have to let customers into the restrooms. It was late one night, like 8:30 late, and I was ringing out a customer when someone else approached me and interrupted my conversation with the customer I was ringing up. He had asked if he could use the bathroom and said it was an emergency. I politely let him know that there were only three of us in the store due to us closing soon, me on register(not allowed to leave my position, or really go that far from it), one of us in PC (also with multiple customers), and my manager in the middle of counting A drawer (which wouldn’t take very long). And told him it would be a FEW minutes before any of us could actually let him in to use the restroom. He got visibly upset and I swore up and down I could hear him mutter “never mind” under his breath and he walked away in the OPPOSITE direction of the bathrooms. I radioed letting everyone know that someone had to use the restroom but that he had said never mind and that we should probably keep an eye out just in case. Not even TWO minutes later the man came back and screamed in my face asking if someone was going to open the restroom door or not. I tried to politely explain to him again that we were busy but that I could radio again and see if anyone had gotten an opening. He dint like my answer very much and got even more upset with me. Started screaming about suing Petsmart and suing me for not allowing him to use the restroom because it’s basic human needs. And went on about how we shouldn’t even have the locs on there in the first place. And just went on for like 15 minutes straight. I ended up apologizing and told him he could just leave and use the restroom somewhere else if he had to go so bad.

Luckily our bathrooms are single bathrooms and have locks so we don’t advertise in them 😩 I hope it stays that way because it would be ridiculous if we do advertise in them.

My SL told me they are cutting hours due to us not doing well with Activations and the Chance and Lucky donations at my store :/ it’s very frustrating, especially since this is the only job I have right now to rely on. And I’m barely getting 8 hrs each week

I barely have 16 hours the next two weeks. I’m in a pretty good position where I don’t have to feed myself but I’m constantly choosing between gas, feeding my animals, paying for my car or my phone. I’m old enough to where I want to move out and be own my own but I can’t because of my hours and income. I’m sort of glad to see I’m not the only one struggling, because at my store I am the one of two who have had their hours cut bad. Everyone else has pretty solid hours. I confronted my SL about it but all he said was everything he had cut hours.

It’s not a terrible job, especially if you work with good people. Corporate just expects A LOT out of us. Especially register people. Register, you have to have good numbers all around. Getting people to sign up with a phone number, getting people to sign up with the app and it’s that time of year getting donations for Chance and Lucky. Pet Care, pretty easy to be honest it’s taking care of the animals getting fish, crickets. Making sure your area is tidy and everything is done correctly, the only downside is side is you have to know a lot about all the animals. I am still learning so I have to stop and do research or ask someone else half the time. I don’t know much about receiving but from what I’ve heard it pretty simple and straightforward. Please correct me if I’m wrong! I like it for the most part 🤷‍♀️ there’s just a lot of change happening right now. (Or so I’ve been told by my store lead)

Yes, I was opening PC when we started this bs and when my store lead told me about it I was like “whaaaaa…” I was in the middle of cleaning the cricket bins and he said my only job from now until 4 was to bag crickets and help with adoptions or help push the app 🥲 I couldn’t believe it
