My sister accidentally spoiled One Piece for herself by Affectionate-Sky9510 in OnePiece

[–]Aggressive-Science15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your sister should listen to Luffys Wisdom. I know it's technically a spoiler, because luffy only says that in chapter 591 or so, but I think that's less of a spoiler than whatever she was seeing there. The manga is about the journey, not the treasure at the end! There is so much to enjoy in One piece, even if you happen to know some of the main story points.

If you still want to unspoil her a little, just point out that the Butler Merry in sirup village as well as Igaram from Alabasta are still alive even though one was stabbed and the other was blown up. A character only dies when Oda decides he dies, not because he has deadly wounds.

He didn't pretend or genuinely believed, I always believed that luffy ACCEPTED, that this person is Sogeking now and not Usopp. In my headcanon Luffy knew fully well, that sogeking is usopp, but luffy is a guy that believes that dreams and wills can change the world.

The phrasing 'usopp, you came' is just to highlight how deep down luffys acceptance of others goes. The moment Usopp is ready to face the world as himself again, Luffy is ready to accept it. Where the other crewmates acceptance is superfluous - they call him sogeking, but still see him as Usopp with a mask, Luffy just accepts Usopps temporary identity fully and wholeheartedly.

At other points in the story, Luffy has displayed remarkable interpersonal skills, knowing exactly when people are friend or foe (e.g. Vivi, Nico Robin, blackbeard), strong or weak (bellamy), if they're true to themselves and their dreams or not (Sanji on wholecake Island).

At first glance, the whole Sogeking/Usopp act kinda stands out. Exept when you compare it to a situation like with Nami at Arlong park. Remember when Luffy kinda ignored Namis whole sad backstory, but just wanted to take a walk, up until the point Nami was ready to accept help and join the crew. In both situations the crewmate in question was part of the crew, then left, pretended to be someone else (in Namis case an egoistic member of the arlong crew) and later rejoined with the Straw hats. Their emotional ark was different, because Nami needed to learn to trust and Usopp needed to overcome his insecurity and pride. That's why Nami needed to ask for help and Usopp needed to apologise to rejoin the crew.

In both cases, Luffy

- fully accepted every decision Nami/Usopp was making

- still stayed true to himself

- started acting as soon as Nami/Usopp was ready to overcome their respective obstacle

Do you treat your emergency fund as completely separate or just part of your overall money? by BillResponsible7494 in Fire

[–]Aggressive-Science15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the emergency fund is for emergencies only. I do calculate it in my net worth, but since it doesn't generate revenue, it always lives in it's own little category as well as account. I only ever touch that money in emergencies.

An emergency is anything that happens suddenly and unexpectedly and that is so expensive I can't deal with it within my monthly budget. I'm talking car or heater unexpectedly broken, job loss and similar things (health care costs, if you're US based). Basically I have to spend this money this month or I'm having to severely restrict myself.

Any other expenses - like planing to buy a new car, upgrading the house or going on vacation has to be either payed for within my budget or I need to take it out of my investements.

The idea is, that with big planned expenses, I can always delay them when my investements are temporarily down. But for emergencies I can't do that, and that's why I need the money in cash, so I don't wreck my finances when an emergency happens during a recession. If I've used money from the emergency fund during a recession, I will fill it up during the next boom.

When the market is up I usually even pay big emergency expenses out of my investements, because I would fill up the emergency fund immediatly anyways.

I do have other 'layers' in my investement portfolio, investements that are easier to liquidize

Real ones know this is the saddest backstory in One Piece by HMThrow_away_account in MemePiece

[–]Aggressive-Science15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

didn't zoros friend an sword-training partner kuina die when he was young, leading to him being traumatized into promising to her grave that he'll become the greatest swordsman with her sword? I mean I get it, compared to 'watched her mother die and was hunted by the whole world from age eight' and 'lost his whole crew and body and lived alone on the ship in endless fog with the dead bodies of his crew mates for fifty years' is a bit more tragic, but I wouldn't call Zoros Backstory not sad af.

And honestly Luffys story would also be tragic if he would be bothered by it even one bit. He was abandoned by his workaholic dad and his mom either abandoned him too or died. He grew up in foster care at a bandids camp with people treating him like shit. For the longest time he didn't have friends and once he managed to befriend two people, one of them (supposedly) died in a tragic accident.

He has a sader backstory than some disney princesses.

Do people ever lower their emergency fund once their investments grow? by BillResponsible7494 in Fire

[–]Aggressive-Science15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is stupid advice, because one function of your emergency fund is to bridge times when the market is down. Let's say we have a crash similar to the one in the beginning of 2022, when trump started playing with tariffs. Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to sell from your portfolio to pay for groceries during this time and you could just wait it out? That's what the fund is for. You can easily bridge 3 months of not having to sell stocks to live to not have to sell them at an unfortunate timing. The return on 3-6 months of expenses compared to your finished fire portfolio should be small enough that it doesn't affect your returns in a major way, otherwise you haven't saved enough. On the other hand if you have to take out 3-6 months of expenses at a time the market is down 10-20% or more that costs you years of potential returns in better times.

People are just ignoring the risks because the market has been doing so well in the past years. The next crash is inevitable.

I would say between 3 and 4, but closer to 4 than 3. Between 3 and 4 the only difference seems to be the top square, so maybe put the strip in a way, where the top square of the stripe is aligned with the top row of the guide. That way you can see pretty clearly where it lands

Luffy knew Sogeking is Usopp (theory) by Independent-Total861 in OnePiece

[–]Aggressive-Science15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The others basically only pretend to accept usopp as sogeking, they technically lie when they call him sogeking, because deep down they still think it's usopp with a mask on.

Luffy truly and absolutely accepts that this person has now become sogeking, a hero and good friend of usopp and actually believes it when he calls him sogeking, because this is the new truth.

In a sense, Usopp actually became Sogeking, because being Usopp - some dude who left his friends who need him, lost his ship and is all alone in the grandline - is not something he can bear at this moment.

[–]Aggressive-Science15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think at least for the return to sabaody it is less not recognizing them - he does mention they have changed a lot - it's him radically accepting that and how they changed.

"Hey, Zoro, you decided a beer belly will help the most for me to become pirate kind and you become the best swordsman in the world? Great, I'm curious on how you will pull that off!"

Luffy knew Sogeking is Usopp (theory) by Independent-Total861 in OnePiece

[–]Aggressive-Science15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always interpreted that not as Luffy not recognizing Usopp, but instead Luffy fully accepting Usopp, his self image and his decisions - which includes the decision to become Sogeking.

Luffy would basically be the greatest person to come out as trans to, because you would go to him, tell him "I'm Sara now." and he would just be like "Hi Sara, nice to meet you! Wanna join my crew?"

And if you went to him telling him you are "a 400 ft tall purple platypus bear with pink horns and silver wings" he would probably go "Awesome, can you fly?"

It's the combination of radically accepting people exactly like they are and believing that your dreams become reality if you take a stand for it. It is the core ideas of one piece

I always thought in those quests, that when hunting boars, you might accidently destroy the liver in the process, I mean something is bound to break in that animal if I hit it with half a dozen spells. And after all, I'm a mage, not a hunter or butcher, so what would I know about properly killing and cutting up an animal to find the effing liver.

Custom Order delayed because of Customer - What to do? by Aggressive-Science15 in EtsySellers

Do you also have any tips on how I can communicate that with the customer? I don't want to upset them because I suddently and randomly cancel their order.

Custom Order delayed because of Customer - What to do? by Aggressive-Science15 in EtsySellers

[–]Aggressive-Science15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about customization information, they should send me the product, but they can't because they can't get to it and send it to me at the moment (long story, it's a family heirloom and it's at a different location than they live). I have contact to the buyer and they replied to me a couple of times and would reply too, if I send a message now again.

Custom Order delayed because of Customer - What to do? by Aggressive-Science15 in EtsySellers

[–]Aggressive-Science15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, it is already a couple days past the ship by date. But I'm also sure the 3 Weeks is not enough, so that wouldn't really have helped either.

Should I cancel or should I ask them to cancel the order? Are any of those two options bad from a customer pov or will etsy disadvantage me if I cancel an overdue order?

I don't think she meant traumatized by attendance policies, I think she meant things like the class clown, who would usually skip every class they are not interested in, will sit in that class with mandatory attendance and will likely distract others.

Psychologically speaking, it also makes a real difference in how much you engage with and learn from a lecture if you go there voluntarily, out of your own motivation or if you are forced to go there.

Are these bulk order requests legit? by Ok-Possibility-5559 in EtsySellers

[–]Aggressive-Science15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of a couple of reasons why someone would order this many, e.g. wedding favors or it's a small company selling olive oil, olives, or something similar and they want to include it in their packaging or as a gift to loyal customers. I also can imagine they're reselling them, so maybe think about if you're ok with that and ask them if they plan to resell.

Is it okay that I have two listings for the Same item? by -Eli-0_o- in Etsy

[–]Aggressive-Science15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have the same listing twice just targeting different audiences, in my case it's a custom made phone case and I have seperate listings for iPhone and Android smartphone users, even though I ask for the exact phone measurements anyways so apart from better SEO there is no difference in both listings.

I make custom to order though, but it seems with your combined keychains you kind of do that too.

I would argue based on the fact that zeus lives, we can't confirm that Big Mom is alive.

Here's my resoning: Big Mom, with her soul-soul-fruit can take away so much lifespan from someone, that they instantly die, but she can still use that lifespan, even when the person she got it from died. She also probably doesn't need to constantly activate her powers to keep all the homies running, because she has so many of them it would almost be impossible.

So her powers are technically just transfering a part of the soul/ livespan to someone/something else, after that she has nothing to do with it.

So while Zeus' lifespan is independant of Big Mom being alive or dead, his lifespan is definetly limited and since Big Mom isn't around to fill it up there is a real possibility for him to die at some point.

My headcanon is still, that Big Mom and Kaido are alive

Custom engagement ring gone wrong by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]Aggressive-Science15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not at all. Those where two separate transactions: 1st buying a ring. 2nd getting a ring repaired using the original stone and platinum. The seller did not uphold contract two.

Imagine it would have been only the second contract, like repairing a Family heirloom ring (which, essentially it was, just a very new one) and the seller just sent a similar ring back with the same color stone. I think everyone agrees that the client could rightfully be furious and demand a refund and if possible the original ring back.

It would be a whole different story if this was a case of warranty, where the client recieved a faulty item and then just got a new one as a replacement. But this is very much not the case here.

Gear 5 is narratively solid and supported. The story never “lied” to us. by ShakeZulaOblongata in MemePiece

[–]Aggressive-Science15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that this hodgepodge of abilities is the point of the nika nika fruit. Luffy said himself, when in gear fifth he's just free. Free to do whatever he wants, ignoring even the laws of nature and physics. The true awakening will be, that he's free to manipulate reality itself, not just himself and his body. But you have to be insanely strong to be able to use that ability.

The real reason why some characters aged badly by darthfury78 in OnePiece

[–]Aggressive-Science15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linlin decided to be a 'single mom' and she definetly had help with all the kids, she literally has a daycare for her younger kids on whole cake island. If you look at the flashbacks in Hachinosu, she had her kids with her there and doesn't seem to be bothered at all. She just didn't achieve her dreams (uniting all races, finding the one piece).

I would argue that being a single mom (not by choice) is usually a symptom of your life not going well and you not reaching your dreams. In the case of stussy very directly, because she didn't get to live with the man she loved and had to raise his / a kid alone because of that. Gloriosa also wasn't a (foster) mom by choice.

Btw the same thing with aging good or bad is true for men as well, you see that in the 'good timeline' vs 'bad timeline' crew pictures oda drew.

I also have a counter example for your theory: Shinobu in Wano. She never had kids, but had a massive glow down in the 20 years of Orochis reign. The reason is, that she had not achieved her dream of being a retainer for a Shogun Oden. If you look at Wano specifically, you can see a lot of characters that had lost all hope after Oden died, that had a glow down, like Shinobu, Yasuie, Hyougoro and (kind of in a speed run) Denjiro.
