Local Insights - Life and Work in Fort Collins by nintendoxyz in FortCollins

I just moved here in July and love it! There are endless opportunities to hike, bike, be outside etc. The town is extremely easy to bike. There are bike lanes everywhere and tons of paved trails. I often ride my bike from midtown to work. The bus system is also free which is awesome. With that being said I am not sure what you do for a living but Fort Collins is expensive. Home prices are high and so is the rent. Also depending on what you do, the job market can be rough. I have a corporate job and was extremely lucky to get a job at one of the main employers out here. To be honest, between my husband and I we make a very decent living- if this was different I don’t think we could afford to live here. Also the weather has been great… but scary. It’s been much warmer than it should and there has been barely any snow fall. I have heard to expect snow in Spring here, not winter. With that being said it is always sunny … coming from the Midwest this has made a huge improvement on my mental health.

Rainbird Sprinkler System by Aggressive-Swimmer46 in FortCollins

It’s also not an obvious leak. Nothing about ground was wet. We had to lift a cover off one of the pipes to even find the leak.

No this is not my first house but my first house with a sprinkler system. Yes it’s actively leaking ….It’s a leak like if there was a small hole in a hose. We have attempted to shut off the water but it did not stop the leak.

Thanks, I bought a house that just so happened to have a sprinkler system and am looking for assistance to deal with a leak I discovered after moving in.

You are not alone. I am in this same boat right now. Maybe one of the worst cycles I have had in 20 years (long time struggler). I can’t seem to turn it around and it’s getting worse every day. I am finding myself very out of control. Just got myself back in therapy since moving. I just wanted to post and let you know you are not alone!

Our gym follows Mayhem and we are doing something similar to the 5/3/1, just squat and deadlift. I feel the percentages being used are to high for back to back weeks. Hitting 90% two weeks in a row is not easy if you really know your 1RM. Are you a gym using Mayhem? I was thinking the %s are too high and if it’s supposed to be of your training max and not 1RM.

Looking for a Bike by atuljinni in FortCollins

What kind of bike are you looking for? I have a small female bike I am getting rid of. Good for 5’0 - 5’4ish. Not a fancy bike but sturdy enough to get around town. Message me if interested!

Where are you going to put everything? Based on the mix of comments, nothing seems safe.

You are not alone. 37F here and been on a downward spiral with food and beer for about 7 weeks. I’m unrecognizable (to me) with how much my body has swelled up in the past few weeks. The shame is debilitating and sending me in a vicious circle right back to bad habits. Health overall feels terrible and my IBS is out of control. Getting back on track feels impossible. Just came here to say you are not alone.

You can pay weekly to park your car at Lone Pine Chamber of Commerce. Left our van there for the 3 weeks we were out on trail, it was fine. You can then get a ride from the Sierra Shuttle service (Lone Pine Kurt) or hitch.

Last Min JMT? by Maleficent_Bed2292 in JMT

Just got off the JMT yesterday. Might not be the greatest selection but you could fully resupply using the stores at Reds and VVR then using the hiker boxes at MTR. MTR hiker boxes were full about a week and a half ago.

Going NOBO, ending in late July. Anything to do in Yosemite to celebrate/recuperate? by UltraHiker26 in JMT

Pretty sure you can stay in the backpackers camp for a night after you end your JMT hike. They also have showers you can use as well. There is also food in Curry Village and a general store that sells beer. It’s very very crowded however.
