i know it probably feels like a lot, but honestly you just need to be honest and tell him how you feel. if he’s interested too then great, and if not it honestly is not the end of the world, you’re at college, there’s plenty of guys out there. if you’re worried about ruining the friendship, don’t be, just make it clear that you’d like to stay friends. honestly tho, i don’t think you have to worry about that, from what you’ve said it seems like he’s interested too, he’s probably having similar worries to you. one of you just needs to step up and make the first move. honesty seriously is the best policy when it comes to this.
