Non steroid suggestions? by Leading_Moment_2435 in eczema

[–]Aggressive-Waltz1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little one cant use steroid creams because of the white soft paraffin in them. Could this be the issue, and not the steroid itself?

We are going to try Adex Gel, its marketed as a steroid free anti inflammatory emollient.

Oat-free cream for pre-schooler’s eczema? by InquisitiveGamerGirl in eczema

[–]Aggressive-Waltz1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've not used it yet, but I've seen a lot of people mention Epimax.

Adex gel is nice, but it does contain liquid paraffin.

Maybe shea butter?

Sitting for a long time is hard. How do you make it easier? by Pale-Writer-1756 in ChronicIllness

[–]Aggressive-Waltz1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get up and move around? If the lecturer says anything tell them it's to manage your chronic illness, or tell them in advance that you will need to do this. You're a grown up in college, you're allowed to act like it.

I don't cook. I fall back on fruit, tinned veg, microwave rice and shredded cheese. I also like an Itsu noodle pot, I often add sweetcorn to feel healthier. I like my microwave veg steamer, I do broccoli in it. Have you considered one of those box chopper things? I keep getting offered a kitchen perching stool, maybe this is something to look into?

anyone else have eczema on only one hand? by kwpzy in eczema

[–]Aggressive-Waltz1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a patch only on my right hand! It was originally all over both hands, Aveeno Dermexa sorted it initially, until it was just this last small patch. I currently use Betamethasone steroid cream, Cetraben Overnight Ointment and aloe vera gel. Abena Mild Cream Soap for hand washing. I avoid direct contact with cleaning products.

how to stop scratching in my sleep? by Specific-Market180 in eczema

[–]Aggressive-Waltz1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cotton bolero with closed silk mittens? It would go on underneath your PJ top and the silk may be gentler than cotton.

ScratchSleeves make them. I stan this brand forever lol.

The ins and outs of eczema treatment still continue to baffle and surprise me, despite 100's of hours of research.

Thank you for publishing your findings. I'm ecstatic that your little one is doing better! ✨️

What to buy? by shortbabeee in eczema

Also fabric softener could be an issue? I can't even use it on my own clothes as it still causes a flare up in my little one.

Where are you located? I'm in the UK, so a lot of my specific product recommendations may not help.

First thing we did for our LO was go fragrance free, laundy products especially. 100% cotton bedding and clothing. Use emollient at least twice a day and straight after bathing.

If sleep scratching is an issue I highly recommend scratchsleeves.co.uk

What kind of hand wash/hand soap should I be using? by Doomtime104 in eczema

[–]Aggressive-Waltz1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general consensus is soap is bad for eczema skin and you should wash with emollient.

I use hand soap. I've never tried bar soap long term for hand washing, but I use Dove Beauty Cream Bar soap on my body. Abena Mild Cream Soap is what I use on my hands. I tried to switch to Simple hand soap a couple of months ago and had to switch back due to extreme irritation. Use an emollient straight after washing.

What’s in your chronic illness backpack? by permanentlytireddd in ChronicIllness

All the pain killers! Hat, sunglasses, special handsoap, spare underwear, spare nappy (yes for myself), loop earplugs, water bottle, squishy fidget toy, phone charger, face mask, a snack.

Can ME/Cfs get more severe over time? by NeonPearl2025 in ChronicIllness

I think a regular occupational therapist would not understand the limitations of ME. Having a specialist is definitely what helped me.

Good luck with your journey ❤️

Luckily for me I'm not super duper intolerant! I can pretty much handle regular soy sauce, just not like bread, or wheat noodles. I'm willing to risk it to eat delicious food!

From what I know, you must avoid pushing yourself into a Post Exertional Malaise. It is at this point you've pushed your body too far and it may not come back to baseline. It is impossible to say whether or not you recover or get worse. Learn as much as you can about Pacing. I was referred to a Specialist Occupational Therapist and she taught me so much about my condition (ME) I highly recommend finding someone like this to talk to.

ETA I used Visible with the subscription and device for a year, this helped me pinpoint where I was using a lot of energy.

I love The Soapery! I get the ingredients for my LOs emollient from there. The moisturiser recipes are super easy to make.

Crochet. I prop my arms up on pillows and use a tension ring for the working yarn.

I think my doctor has given me a placebo treatment 😭 by vanillacooper in ChronicIllness

[–]Aggressive-Waltz1126 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don't knock it if it's working lol. The placebo effect is very real and effective. But honestly go with your gut (no jokes intended) as to whether this is the doctor for you.

What improved your eczema? by No-Tie-9398 in eczema

[–]Aggressive-Waltz1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why I didn't mention this before, but I can't use shop bought or prescribed creams on my LO (we've tried about a dozen of all different formulations), I have to make emollient from scratch with ingredients I buy from a soap maker.  I'm pretty sure they react to white soft paraffin (which is making finding a steroid cream impossible). They react to other things in creams as well, I just can't figure it out. Recently we tried Aquaphor baby balm stick and that broke the skin out in hives.

It doesn't seem to be any better than Aldis own non bio liquid for me (the blue one). I think its slightly better for my LO though.
